Babycakes Treats Team

I felt like I was running a cupcakery this morning. Cupcakes + bakery = Cupcakery

I was playing around with this little toy. A Babycakes Cupcake Maker.

White Babycakes Cupcake Maker

I was asked by Babycakes and Select Brands to be part of their Treats Team and anytime I can “work” by making cupcakes and treats, that’s “work” I like to have.

And making cupcakes is what I’ve been doing. Let’s just say I’ve made more than a dozen.

Inside of Babycakes Cupcake Maker with multiple molds

I came up with this batter. It involves peanut butter and it’s crazy good. Recipes to follow one of these days or weeks.

batter with spoon of peanut butter in it

And the frosting involves lots of this.

Squares of chocolate

There was more butter, sugar, and chocolate smeared everywhere in my kitchen today than I’d like to admit, but I’m taking my Treats Team position seriously.

Kitchen counter with dirty dishes and kitchen aid mixer

It was all in the name of recipe research and development. Ahem.

Dirty mixing bowl with batter and spatula

I worked so hard that it’s time for a strawberry cookie break. Salads are over-rated anyway.

Strawberry Cake Mix Cookies with Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting

What’s your favorite cupcake flavor? Frosting flavor? Cupcake combination?

Anything involving peanut butter and chocolate is good in my book, but I want to make gingerbread, pumpkin, strawberry, and red velvet cupcakes.

Even if certain flavors may not be “seasonal” or timely right now, I happen to have a craving for pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting that I apparently didn’t get out of the way last November.  At least these are seasonal.

  1. how can i chose my favorite cupcake flavor?? ahh! can i chose three? pumpkin w/ cream cheese icing, funfetti with rainbow chip icing, and some kind of caramel and peanut butter cupcake. maybe a peanut butter cupcake with salted caramel frosting?! hmmmm future recipe for me perhaps!

    1. When I think about all of those, I get really happy :) They’d all be faves of mine!

  2. PB & chocolate is one of my FAVORITE combos ever … but I have to say I truly don’t get the whole red velvet thing. Is that weird? Have I not had the right one? I’ll think about it over PB & chocolate … xoxo

    1. I don’t totally get it either b/c in my estimation it’s really just a chocolate cake base that’s been blasted with a ton of red food coloring, but in the process, doesn’t exactly stay chocolatey enough and whatever “red velvet” is supposed to taste like, I don’t really know…but am sort of with you on this one, too!

  3. Man… I can’t even remember the last time I ate a cupcake :( sad right? But I think it’s just that I’m more a fan of actual layer cake. My favorite cake/frosting combo would have to be either pumpkin, carrot, or spice cake with cream cheese frosting. Next time I’m home from college I would LOVE to try out a good vegan recipe for cupcakes + cream cheese frosting! I don’t get the chance to do much baking when I’m at school unfortunately.

  4. Your shots are superb – I want to eat every one of those cupcakes! Can I hire you to coach me in food photography? Truly? best, Liz

    1. As I said in the direct email, you’re so sweet, Liz and so glad we’ve connected!

  5. Can’t wait to see your cupcakes! I’m partial to chocolate with vanilla frosting, but also love cream cheese frosting. I mainly just like the tops + any kind of frosting or glaze unless they’re stuffed with something yummy. :)

    1. The Babycakes maker basically creates just tops :) And I put as much frosting on them as the height of the cupcake,i.e. 1.5 inch tall cupcake got 1.5 inches of frosting piped on :)

  6. I see peanut butter in the mix. Can’t wait!!
And you should totally open a cupcakery! Love it!

  7. Red velvet cupcakes (w/ cream cheese frosting) always pop into my head as my favorite, but as I read through everyone’s replies I think “oh that sounds so good too”! I’m pretty easy to please in the cupcake department!

  8. I like carrot cake cupcakes…we had them at our wedding and I could eat them for every meal…with a little ginger…yum!

    1. Oh that is so sweet that you had carrot cake cupcakes for your wedding. I heart that story :)

And major namaste and good vibes to you for all you’re doing with your RYT training right now. Enjoy the mat as I know you will.
      xo

  9. I really enjoy spice cupcakes with buttercream frosting . . .but you’re right about the peanut butter/chocolate combo – who could resist; I’ll be looking forward to that one!

  10. LOL – love that term ;-) I’m such an oddball and really don’t care for cakes/cupcakes. Pretty much the only flavor I might dive in for would be a spice cake (carrot, pumpkin something like that) with a cream cheese icing.

    1. Ok that’s awesome info and I am pretty sure I have seen that recipe of hers floating around Pinterest. Good to know it’s tried and true and I just happen to have a huge pumpkin craving. In the almost-springtime. Strange but true!

  11. What a fun way to spend the day!
I love banana cupcakes with chocolate frosting.
    Yummy!

BTW, the food scale is totally the ‘weigh’ to go with baking. It makes measuring very simple!

  12. We make chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting almost weekly in our apartment! It’s the perfect weekend snack! One time we made carrot cake cupcakes with pineapple and cream cheese icing and those might rival the pb&choco combo for my favorite. Love those cupcake machines-they give the cupcakes such great texture!

  13. I like a big cupcake (maybe.. it could be called a ‘muffin’ – what is really the difference anyway?), with big chunks of chocolate, real berries and a decent dose of vanilla essence. Must be warm. I used to get these as a weekly treat at a cafe called ‘C1’ which unfortunately got trashed by our earthquakes. When they posted on their Facebook page that they are rebuilding on the same site, I nearly cried with delight. When C1 re-opens, and I sink my teeth into a perfect enormouse cupcake, I will know things are back to normal.

  14. This weekend I enjoyed a salted caramel cupcake. Well it was chocolate base which I couldnt have but I had a mouth full of the vanilla and caramel frosting sprinkled with sea salt. Perfection!
