I love handbags, purses, and just bags in general. I was thrilled when Wendy from Moop wanted to send me a bag.
I chose the waxed canvas carrier in gray
I love the curved look of the bag when it’s closed and the overall lines and shape of it.
The interior is a bright blue turquoise that just pops! I love turquoise so much that it’s the color of the first tattoo I ever got (I was 17 and it’s a tropical fish on my abdomen that used to be vibrant turquoise but has faded) and also turquoise is used in my blog color palette.
The Moop waxed canvas bags are distressed and become that way from working the material as each bag is hand made and crafted. No two bags are identical, and everything is handmade in their Pittsburgh-area studio.
A couple nice interior pockets and I know this bag will be great for daily use, or for taking with me on my trip.
I plan to throw my Macbook with “Book” Case in it for sure.
Other bags I own and love…
My handmade one of a kind camera bag from Etsy
My LV. It came with for champagne happy hour with Amber
My pink Chanel and matching wallet. Amber and I both love bags and never leave home without them when we plan to meet up.
Thanks to everyone who complimented me on my Chocolate Coconut Cashew Butter from my recent post.
I am honored that so many of you told me you loved the recipe and my photography. Thank you, thank you. It’s soooo good. Make some for yourself in 5 minutes flat!
Foodgawker and Tastespotting liked the images and recipe, too, which is a high honor!
I want my photography to be judged, evaluated, and critiqued by others. Those sites are not perfect, and sometimes I see things on them that I wonder, huh, why is that on there? And other times I have friends who’s photos have been rejected that are truly beautiful and I again think, huh, why didn’t that make it?
But for now, I work my tail off to get better at my photography and having a “judge and jury” like those food sites helps me.
However, hey don’t tell me what’s wrong with my photos when they don’t accept them other than a one-liner like “composition”. I have to figure out for myself what to improve on.
I also can’t reliably figure out their crop box and if anyone reading this has tips, especially for vertical shots, and more so for TS than FG, please, I am all ears at what sizes you use. I have tried everything from 250 x 250, 400 x 600, 375 x 385, and no matter what I use, especially on vertical shots, the cropping is just off and I can’t submit many of what I consider my really good images due to those pesky crop boxes.
It hasn’t just been Chocolate Coconut Cashew Butter and Bags around here, I made another batch of Peanut Sauce Baked Tofu.
It was just as good the second time around.
1. Do you like bags?
I know some people are into shoes (my feet are too big to be a shoe collector; probably a blessing in disguise).
Others are into collecting cute dishes (count me in), some people have 20 pairs of sunglasses, or a myriad of MAC lipglosses (guilty as charged, or hoard cookbooks and review them, too.
But I really love bags! I am drawn to unique, handmade, and beautifully crafted bags. And I won’t lie, if someone wanted to buy me a new Louis or Chanel, I wouldn’t argue!
2. Fill in the Blanks: (my answers in parentheses
My favorite bag is my______. (pink Chanel)
The last thing that made me laugh was_____. (being on hold for 9 minutes to make an appointment and the receptionist acted like that’s normal. You just gotta laugh those things off.)
I’d rather be_____ than_____. (swamped and busy than bored and not needed)
If you haven’t entered my Give Away for Coconut Oil yet, you better get crackin’ on that. Contest ends Saturday.
Have a great day!
OK I LOVE bags. When I worked at Macy’s years ago I would just lust after those beautiful bags. But I cannot bring myself to buy one. I have left a million hints to Jason that I would love for him to get me one as a gift but I must not be obvious enough.
I really like that bag you have from Moop! The color, the style, everything. Beautiful.
The last thing that made me laugh — seeing the sweat stains on my butt after my run today. I feel sorry for the other gym members who had to see that.
I’m way more a shoe girl than a bag girl. I have TONS of shoes, but only a few purses!! It’s hard for me to find ones that are big enough for all my stuff but don’t feel too heavy or clunky. I love Longchamps for that reason!
That being said, my favorite bag is probably a Cole Haan from Mike!
Garsh, I just adore bags!!! Seriously, if I had the money, I would have hundreds of them! So much fun because they have all these patterns and designs. Big, small…You can mix and match with all outfits!!!
Hi! Just recently found your blog and love it! That bag is soooo amazing that I just ordered one for myself! LOL!
Going to try the peanut sauce baked tofu…can’t wait!!
blessings,
That is so awesome, Cricket! I will be sure to tell Wendy of Moop!!
:)
You are getting so fancy and professional with your photography! I’m such a slacker; as long as it’s clear I’m all good. I admire your determination – good luck! Although, I have to say I don’t think you really need any luck, your photos are stunning and they somehow just keep getting better. I really did gasp when I saw that photo of the choco cashew dip.
And YES, I LOVE bags. Lately I’ve been using a bag from Peru that we bought right from the woman as she was pulling it off the loom. It was in a tiny mountain village, and I swear it still smells like sunshine. It isn’t so practical, it is open at the top and can’t be closed, but I love it so much I keep on using it.
And I adore the bag you got! Turquoise is one of my very favorite colors, and I love purses (or clothes) that have hidden pops of color like that. Lovely!
yummm that peanut sauce tofu looks fantastic! i will have to make this pronto :)
Oh I love handbags! They make me happy ;-) Let’s see, I’d rather be on the beach than sitting in my office. But I’ll be in Seattle by the end of the evening so I’ll take that.
Not much of a bag lady here :P I only need/have one – a black coach one that is just “fancy” enough and goes with anything. Oh, and it’s small!! Just big enough for my wallet, phone and a couple other random nick-nakcs, which is probably good, because otherwise I’d try keeping my whole life in it :P
Ugh – hate those crop boxes, too. I’m pretty sure I’ve ranted about it to you before! I think when it all comes down to it, we have to shoot with a square ratio in mind rather than the rectangle that we’re accustomed too :[ Basically, just shoot really loose! You’ll think it’s ugly and might get clutter on the sides, but it will be cropped out. Of course, I should listen to my own advice…I always forget about submitting to sites like that while I’m shooting! Sometimes I’ll luck out on the crop (I usually just set it to 100×100 @ 300 dpi, otherwise it’s too big a file for Foodgawker to accept) and other times it’s less than stellar but I give it a shot. And get denied on basis of “composition.” Ah well ;)
yes it’s a vicious circle…
“it’s less than stellar but I give it a shot. And get denied on basis of “composition.” “!!
Cute bag! My favorite bag is any of my Coach bags – I have a collection. :)
