Bests & Winner

PinSave

I had a day to beat all on Friday.  From the moment I woke up, to the moment I plan to go to sleep (about 22 hours after I woke up), it’s been manic.

There were a few bests…

The best thing I looked at was the blue sky and sunshine. 75F and sunny in San Diego.

blue sky and palm trees

And the pink hibiscus was another best.

The best thing I did was go for a run.  I ran fast, I sweated, I loved it.

Then I came in and did yoga at homeNot from a dvd though. My day was stressful, fast-paced, and busy and I needed to slow things down and yoga definitely helped.

The best part of Leanne’s day is likely that she’s the winner of my Coconut Oil Give Away.

Leanne @ Healthful Pursuit April 27, 2011 at 6:21 pm: I tweeted + I follow you + TropTraditions

Leanne, email me your shipping address.  I can’t wait to see what you make with your coconut oil!

From my last post, I’m glad you enjoyed all that lovely food that I’ve seen from around the ‘sphere this past week.

Thanks for filling me in on what you’re going to make nextSo many choices, not enough football teams to feed.

The best thing I made was this.

Frosting being whipped with beater

Any guesses what it is?

frosting on electric mixerIt was beater-lickin’ good, that’s for sure.

Questions:

1. How was your day?  Any bests to report?

2. Did you grow up patiently waiting until your mom was done making whatever she was making so you could lick the beaters?

I did!

3. Finish this sentence:

The last time I licked beaters was ____ and they contained ____.

(me = today and cream cheese frosting made with a cup of butter, a cup of cream cheese and almost 4 cups of powdered sugar.  Omg.)

Enjoy your Saturday and I’ll be back later on!

  1. please tell me that is frosting!! :)
I like the beaters every time I use..beaters haha!
I love crazy days/hate them..The day seems to go by fast, but then I never get anything done!

  2. Last time I licked the beaters was 2 days ago..i was making coffee mocha bundt cake! ahhhmazing.
p.s. it’s gorgeous up here in the bay too!!! loooving it. can’t wait to go for a run later. not sure what you’re making but it sure does look tasty!!! white cake batter? frosting?? cheesecake?

  3. I licked the beaters, the bowl, the spoon, everything. Still do. The last time I licked beaters was last weekend when i made sugar cookies. And I’ll lick them again whenever I bake next. I don’t like to waste, you know. :)

Your Friday and my Friday – total opposites. But I’d trade you in a heartbeat.

  4. I loved licking the beaters as a child! Every time my mom made cookie dough. It’s been so long I can’t even remember what the last thing was that I made and licked the beaters.

  5. Personal best yesterday was scrapbooking with my aunts and cousins! Personal worst this morning=4 inches of snow. I think I should move to San Diego.
I loved waiting for the beaters when I was little! I still do. The last time I licked beaters was last week, and it had chocolate chip cookie dough, probably my favorite food in the worlds. Mmm..

  6. haha yes beaters are the best! I don’t bake much because I’m the only one around to lick everything! :P

Can’t wait to see what you made :)

  7. Yayyy!
I’m with dragonmamma – does it count if I licked a whisk? I do that A LOT at our house. I was making raspberry jam!

  8. wow i hope you get some rest! are you integrating dairy back into your diet or just kinda living in the moment? prob cookie dough as a kid, i don’t use beaters in anything i make anymore because i’m kinda lazy and the vita-mix does it for me ;)

    1. winging it. whatever happens, happens. Not overthinking it or going out and buying cartons of milk and chugging it but cream cheese and butter in frosting, I am not saying no :)

  9. I licked a whisk yesterday, does that count? (A chocolate/coconut oil glaze for coconut fat bombs.)

  10. Best part of the day was coming home from work and knowing it was the weekend!

My mom always let me lick the beaters when I was a kid, but I was pretty impatient. Now that I’m older and vegan I can just eat dough without fear of getting sick :) Haven’t baked in a long time though, so I can’t remember the last time I licked a beater

  11. The last time I licked a beater was when I was making granola – well, it wasn’t a beater. It was a spatula. And it was good.

  12. I can’t remember the last time I used beaters! I lost one of mine (how? I have no idea) so now I mix things by hand. But, when I was younger I used to lick the beaters all the time — pancake mix, cake mix, anything. Honestly I think my favorite was the pancake mix (you know the Jiffy packs that are 58 cents? Those were the best)

I’m not sure what that is, some kind of frosting for cake balls?

    1. I answered it at the bottom of the post :)

jiffy mix was afterschool snacks in the 80s. Memories!!

      1. Just checked my email to see your response.

“cream cheese frosting made with a cup of butter, a cup of cream cheese and almost 4 cups of powdered sugar”

That sounds amazing!!! Sugar coma for sure.

  13. oh, happy memory flashback! thanks!
i DID get to lick the beaters when i was little…one for me, one for my brother. cake frosting was the BEST! we’d ask my mom to NOT scrape too much off the beaters before we got them! fun times! :)
ok, honest, i am actually more taken with your red speckled mixing bowl than the icing!…a target find, i bet (sigh!).
hope today is a little less crazy! glad you got a run + yoga, though – very centring!

  14. Don’t rememberif I ever licked beaters? I think my dad always snatched them but all we ever beat was cream, so not that exiting – and he’s a huge cream ear, so he was welcome to them :-). I know I ought to try some cookies dough but I’m one of those boooring people who prefers cookie dough after the cookie-fication. Made cookies last night, best ever, yay!
