The BEST Caramel Apple Pancakes

These are some of the easiest and fastest pancakes I’ve ever made. And those are two very good things when you’re a little tired and your morning coffee hasn’t quite kicked in yet, but you have requests from hungry family members that they want pancakes.

My secret is using a box of Krusteaz Buttermilk Pancake Mix!

I don’t see anything wrong with using a little help in the kitchen, and this saves so much time, making mornings easy. Krusteaz is so easy to work with and delivers great results and taste without artificial ingredients.

The sheet pan pancakes are soft, light, and fluffy. They are not at all dense or heavy which is great news.

Anytime you’re starting your day with warm pancakes, topped with sweet apples, and salted caramel sauce, the day is already off to a great start.

Honestly, you can enjoy these sheet pan pancakes as a breakfast or dessert. They’re perfect for a weekend treat or holiday brunches.

How to Make Sheet Pan Pancakes

With no need to fuss with a variety of dry and wet ingredients like eggs, baking powder, and all-purpose flour, these caramel apple pancakes couldn’t be easier to make. You don’t even have to stand around flipping pancakes! Just mix, bake, and enjoy. Detailed instructions can be found in the recipe card at the end of this post.

Here’s a look at how the sheet pan pancakes are prepared:

  1. Top the pancakes with the apple pie filling, a dash of cinnamon, and a healthy drizzle of caramel sauce, and enjoy warm!
  2. Add the dry ingredients to a large mixing bowl, and whisk to combine.
  3. Then, add the water, and whisk again until smooth.
  4. Pour the pancake batter into a half baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, spreading it out in an even layer.
  5. Bake until the pancakes are fluffy and golden brown, rotating the pan halfway through cooking.

Topping Variations

You don’t have to stop with just caramel apple sheet pan pancakes or classic melted butter and syrup!

– Try drizzling melted peanut butter and chocolate sauce over the pancake.
– Add chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans for extra crunch
– Fresh berries like strawberries or blueberries sprinkled over the top with dollops of whipped cream are perfect.
– Top the pancakes with a dollop of yogurt and strawberry sauce.
– Add banana slices and sprinkle with mini chocolate chips.
– Or get into the fall spirit by topping the pancakes with pumpkin butter and a generous sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice or brown sugar.

The sky is the limit on whatever flavor combinations you want to go with.

Recipe FAQs

How long do these pancakes last?

This recipe is best served right away. However, if you have leftovers, you can store them without toppings in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Can I freeze this recipe?

Absolutely! I love to keep a batch on hand for quick meals. To freeze, allow the pancakes to cool completely. Then, transfer them to freezer bags, place a piece of parchment paper between each pancake, and freeze for up to 2 months.

What’s the best way to reheat leftover pancakes?

I prefer reheating thawed pancakes in the toaster oven or microwave. If using the microwave, heat the pancakes for 15-second intervals until warm. If heating frozen pancakes, warm them in the oven at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes or until warmed through.

Why are my pancakes dense?

The most common reason for this recipe to turn out dense is overmixing the batter. Be careful to stir just until no streaks remain.

  • 1 Large Mixing Bowl

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Krusteaz Buttermilk Pancake Mix
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, plus more for sprinkling before serving if desired
  • 2 ⅓ cups water
  • 1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling, gently warmed if desired
  • cup caramel or salted caramel, or to taste (I used homemade salted caramel sauce

  • To a large bowl, add the pancake mix and cinnamon, and whisk to combine.
  • Add the water and whisk to combine.
  • Turn batter out into prepared pan and bake for about 9 to 10 minutes, or until done; rotate pan midway through cooking. Because all ovens, pans, etc. vary, start checking for doneness at about 8 minutes.
