Life has been busy and I’ve only been on U.S. soil for about 12 hours! I’ve gotten plenty of chores done and crossed off my list which has been nice.
I went to the grocery store last night at midnight for some produce. Priorities that just couldnt’t wait til the morning!
Even though I ate tons of watermelon in Aruba, I hadn’t gotten my fill and “personal watermelons (love that term) were on sale for $2.99 and were so cute that I bought one.
And of course an assortment of other fruits and veggies.
And I dug into a salad.
With homemade Vegan Slaw Dressing
And I made a batch of Peanut Sauce Baked Tofu
I missed simple salads and tofu from the Comforts of Home in San Diego. They tasted great!
I also owed a very special lady some Raw Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls
So I made a batch.
And I mailed them off to Canada.
She was the high bidder in the bake sale auction I donated for, and many thanks to her and her contribution. I was flattered by her generosity, and I’m sure Tina and Tina’s charity appreciate her generosity as well.
While I was at the post office, I picked up the 2.5 weeks worth of mail they were holding for me.
Now if you’ll excuse me, there’s laundry to fold.
And mail to sort…
From my last post, Rock the Boat, I’m glad you enjoyed our boat ride pictures. Skylar sure enjoyed the ride. It was brief and no one got seasick but sounds like from the comments on the last post, many of you have been seasick. I feel your pain!
But, many of you also sound like you do love cruises or would like to take one.
Questions:
1. Weekend plans?
I am working. Someone needs to pay for that vacation we took. And am getting back into the groove of life and hopefully will spend some time outdoors but I have to say, 69F and no humidity feels cold compared to 90F and 90% humidity. Yes, majorly spoiled while in Aruba and I do love it hot, hot, hot!
2. What chore do you love crossing off your to-do list, in general?
For me, grocery shopping and having a well-stocked fridge is a great task to be done with and I literally get to reap the fruits of my labor.
Laundry, unpacking suitcases, and mail sorting aren’t my faves but once they are done, I’m lovin’ it.
One chore I hate doing and procrastinate about is vacuuming! Or making phone calls where I know I will have to sit on hold forever. I don’t even want to pick up the phone for those.
3. Any goodies in the mail for you recently? Or any goodies at all in your life lately?
My entire vacation was a big goodie.
Recap post to come soon.
And I received quite a few items in the mail while I was traveling so I hope you’re up for some product reviews the next week or so.
Enjoy your weekend!
I love vacations, but hate coming home to all the laundry. Sometimes I feel like I need a few days of extra time off work just to get caught up on everything I fell behind on at home. Definitely doesn’t stop me from loving travel though :) Ps: your dough balls look so good!
For me life has just been one big goodie lately!!
I’m super excited for my weekend because tomorrow I have my companions for my spiritual journey top India coming over to discuss our trip over a yummy vegan dinner. This trip will be my first time staying in an ashram :)
I love crossing homework off my chore list … not your usual chore … but a chore to me!
oh, and the peanut sauce baked tofu looks pretty spectacular! need to try that very soon…
I don’t get a lot of stuff in the mail, but for my birthday last month I did order some new scrapbooking supplies. I loved getting them, because now I can finally catch up on my photos! (I was actually 18 months behind and now I’m only about 8 months behind….lol)
Just relaxing this weekend, aaahhh :)
Ooooooooo, I am one lucky girl! I can’t wait!! I’ve just finished breakfast, but I’m still drooling over those dough balls! I can’t believe you got all that done in such a short amount of time! I’m the same way though, I feel like I need to get things back to normal as soon as I can.
I’m NOT a fan of cleaning toilets, vacuuming or doing laundry (ironing included). Thankfully, my hubby does all of that! I haven’t touched laundry in the 10 years we have been married :) yup, he’s an absolute keeper! I LOVE cleaning my kitchen though, and dusting. Weird, I know, I can’t even explain why, but it is quite calming.
I mailed them off so send me an email when they’re in your hands! :)
Thanks, again!
:)
“I haven’t touched laundry in the 10 years we have been married”– You and Scott are the opposite. But I don’t TRUST him around the laundry so I do it!
You can mail me some dough balls to Canada aaaanytime! That slaw looks amazing! And I totally saw watermelon on sale at my local grocery store and I could eat about half of it right now. It really is long overdue for me to visit the grocery store as well, but with these thunderstorms today it makes it hard to wanna leave the house!
bid on some in the next bake sale I participate in…seems Ive been doing like 1 a month lately..and the winners are all up in Canada! :)
Hi Averie! I’ve been reading for a while – one of those lurkers using Google Reader. Just wanted to come out of the dark to say hi and share my weekend. I too have lots of cleaning to catch up on but not because I was away on vacation, just too tired/lazy to do it after work during the week. But I love vacuuming; it just makes the room look and feel fresh. But I despise cleaning showers and ironing. We finally have decent weather in Utah and I’m hoping to spend a good amount of time playing in the yard.
Anyway, glad you had a great vacation. I enjoyed living vicariously through your blog posts!
thanks for delurking :)
Oh, I feel with you! As lovely as going on a vacation is, when you come back, a whole lot of work is waiting for you! :(
We currently have a dangerous bacteria infection that leaves people dead or brain- and kidney-damaged going around in Germany, so I don’t eat a lot of raw things at the moment because the bacteria have been found in cucumbers, tomatoes, and salads. I still eat a lot of (cooked) vegetables, but I miss my fresh greens and smoothies! And grocery shopping isn’t as much fun as it usually is. :(
that sounds scary…whoa!!!!
I love vacations, and am packing right now to leave on a beach vacay tomorrow morning w my husband and two little girls. But, I HATE packing. It always feels good to get back home again and get all the laundry done. Then, I feel like I can relax. Laundry is defiinitely the biggest chore that I like to get crossed off my list.
I always hit up the grocery store IMMEDIATELY upon returning from a vaca ;-) Some things just can’t wait!
Ohmygosh Averie you rockstar! You have gotten a lot done already! <3 I tend to faceplant post vacation or even after a really ridiculously busy day so i'm very impressed =) Keep it up girly and find some time to reeeeelax with that personal watermelon of yours – haha!
ANY chore is good to get over with!
Wow, you did get quite a lot done! Usually when I get back from vacay, I just want to sleep.
This weekend is pretty leisurely – grocery shopping, yard work, and some yoga. I actually like vaccuming; mopping is another story though..
I love unpacking, but HATE vaccuming. I was so glad my sister did that when we were cleaning yesterday. She did most of the cleaning, now that I think about it. She’s been getting the royal treatment on the drive! I’m even letting her sleep in right now. FOr about 5 more minutes. :)
You are a busy lady! And watermelon sounds so good right now…
I also have to work this weekend, or at least saturday night, but my husband works Sunday so I get to go to church alone again. Sigh. I want to get some blogging stuff done this weekend and keep going on my patience yoga practice. If I can squeeze in a nice drawing session, I’ll be golden.
