Have you ever tried coconut oil? Did you like it or not?
I used to hate coconut oil.
The first coconut oil I ever bought was refined coconut oil and I won’t say the brand but it was gross.
I thought it tasted like I was eating a cross between and a hunk of wax and Hawaiian Tropic tanning oil.
I moved onto Tropical Traditions which has been my go-to coconut oil for the past few years.
I’ve also tried Nutiva, Navitas Naturals, and now Kelapo.
I also did a post on refined vs. unrefined coconut oil if you’re curious about the differences, pros & cons.
How do you like to use coconut oil or what recipes do you make with it?
Do you use coconut oil for anything besides eating it or cooking with it?
Not only do I cook with it, but I use it as a hair treatment
You don’t have to buy “special” coconut oil for hair. Whatever kind of coconut oil you have will work perfectly fine in your hair, I’m sure. Makes a great leave in conditioner and smoother but just a little bit unless you like the greasy look.
I also use coconut oil on my skin, elbows, knees, lips, you name it, it works great as a moisturizer.
What do you make with coconut oil or coconut or how do you use it?
I love coconut oil too! I had a similar experience with it at first. I bought refined and just thought it was plain and bland. But when I discovered unrefined cold pressed…yum! It flavors up a lot of different recipes in my house!
OH yeah! I have that big canister of coconut oil!! yum love it! these days its been very melty in my cabinet since its warmer out (I ws told thats okay and it doesn’t need to be put in the fridge though) I want to try your coconut chocolate kale chips and of course the avocado smoothie!! never tried coconut butter though!!!
You might give this info for other people too.
I want to personally thank you for creating this post.
Yum! I use coconut oil in savory cooking as well as in my hair. It’s tasty and nutritious, right to my hair roots ;)
What DON’T I use coconut oil for? Amazing stuff, it’s a staple of my diet. So, how does the Kelapo compare? Is it as good as Tropical Traditions? I’ve never heard of that brand before.
I love coconut oil, but not straight up- it has to be with lots of other stuff, or the texture gets to me!! I love your raw chocolate that I turn into “frosting” for raw chocolate cake…ohmygosh, so good. It was the biggest hit of all the desserts at Christmas, and no one knew it was raw!
After more than 2 years I discovered this recipe and reading through the comments I see you mention a raw chocolate cake. Could you please tell me which is the recipe? Thank you
I don’t recall or even know – that comment was from quite a few years ago! I’m sure if you google raw chocolate cake, you’ll find something you like.
I love cooking with coconut oil – it gives veggies such an interesting flavor!
I have never used coconut oil for cooking before, but have used it for my hair & skin. I’m going to pick some up next time I’m at the market. Thanks for the reminder :)
Oh my, what did we ever do before coconut oil??
What’s crazy is that I never even realized how many of your recipes used Coconut oil! I actually have never used it myself before, but I’ve heard of many people who do and love it. And I had forgotten that it could be used in your hair as well – I think I’ve also heard of it used as an in-shower skin treatment? Such a neat product!
I loved as much as you will receive carried out right here.
I was very happy to see this blog
