It’s been a perfect Friday in Aruba.
Except for the 10 minutes that I was walking home from the beach and it started downpouring out of no where. That’s island weather for you. You never know when it’s going to start pouring out of thin air out of humid air.
Be prepared to take cover under any awning, hut, or little bit of shelter at any moment. That, or have permanently damp hair and shoes which has been the case for us this trip.
Prior to that we were at the beach.
Skylar had a grand time making sandcastle cakes.
I can’t believe she’s four. I feel like I was just on this beach a blink of an eye ago and pregnant with her. Time flies.
She enjoyed a sandy apple. Great fiber, I’m sure.
And then she rested. She put herself in this position. For 1.08 minutes.
For about 1.08 minutes Scott rubbed my back…
…While I gazed at this view.
Not too shabby.
I was and am counting my blessings, big time.
We came home and drank Pineapple Banana & Coconut Cream Smoothies
Ate red and yellow pepper slices
Dipped in a ranch dressing and cream cheese mixture.
We had a few handfuls of some rice crackers and some crunchy peas because I wanted to nearly chip a tooth on those uber crunchy but oh-so-tasty little peas.
And after Scott gets done on the phone and wrapping up his business for the day, we’re off for a family walk.
Yes, I have been counting my blessings.
Questions:
What blessing, big or small, are you counting today?
What are your weekend and holiday plans?
We will be in Aruba and hopefully the weather will be nice and we can spend time at the beach since absolutely nothing will be open for about three days.
The grocery stores have been packed with everyone doing their pre-holiday food stockups. Food hoarding has been in full force since everyone knows, stock up now or forever hold your peace. Or hold it until at least Wednesday or thereabouts when things re-open after the holidays.
Good thing that I have plenty of chocolate desserts on hand. No chance of running out. Whew.
Happy Holidays!
Ahhhh, I can smell the sweet air there….Here it rains today {boo} and we’re hustling an bustling! I wish you and your gorgeous family a VERY happy holidays!! May santa bless you and good food dance around you!

Love this. I sometimes want to put myself in that position and nap too ;-) So glad you guys are having a nice vacation. I feel like I have so much to be thankful for right now. Been blessed to have the extra time off from work to spend with family and friends.
Happy Holidays to you and your family!
I’m thankful for new opportunities that have come my way lately, and for friends and family who are helping us out. Also thankful for the news I just found out — two of my pieces sold at a local gallery, so that’s a nice little chirstmas present for me!
Be well!

Merry Christmas to you, Skylar and Scott! Have a wonderful weekend :-)
All the best to you and your family for the new year as well!
First of all happy holidays to you and your family!!! At the moment I feel blessed for my family being together and us all being healthy. 2011 has brought some health challenges for all of us but we’re finally all on the mend and I’m thankful for that. This weekend we are enjoying the beautiful weather here in sydney!!! It’s been raining all week but the sun has finally decided to come out and I’m taking full advantage of laying out in the park. Other than that there will be copious amounts of baking and cooking as we feast over the next few days. Made some Chocolate Banana protein bars to at least keep snacks on track https://the-healthy-diva.com/2011/12/23/fuelyourfitness/
Have a gorgeous walk today :)
happy holidays Averie!
I can’t believe how grown up skylar is. she looks just like you. so gorgeous!
I’m happy I got to see both of my parents over this holiday. Doesnt happen so often. I’m also thankful I have off the next two days and get to spend them with my man. Also doesn’t happen so often. And most of all I’m so grateful that all my hard work is absolutely paying off, and that it’s all falling into place just the way I knew it would. I hope that everyone can experience this sort of synergistic joy!
(omg my teacher training made me a crazy person)
love you ave! merry Xmas!!
What beautiful pictures! Your Banana, coconut, pineapple smoothie looks wonderful. I think I’ll make that for breakfast tomorrow, but throw in some greek yogurt so I can eat it like soup. Oh and add some granola too! Mmmm, can’t wait for breakfast!! Looks like a great trip!!! Have a wonderful Christmas!!!
We’ve got a few blogs in common so thought I’d swing by. Wow! Will be a new follower! Can’t wait to try that smoothie, sounds lovely!

Have a wonderful holiday weekend! It’s been raining constantly here so I would love a bit of that blue sky and sunshine right now!
omg gorgeous! Lucky you!
Hope you have a great holiday weekend down there! I’m just thankful for family & health right now. Simple yet important stuff :)
happy holidays, Averie, to all of you!
I am thankful that from Thanksgiving until earlier this week, my view was pretty much the same as that – just on a beach in Riviera Nayarit! :) It was a necessary break for Jason and I, and it was nice to “skip” the crazy part of the holiday season, landing here just in time for the good stuff!
(after we had a canceled plane and had to stay the night in San Diego!) :D
Cheers!
Sand totally counts as fiber!!
You are blessed indeed! Merry Christmas, Averie!!
