Hi Friends! Happy Halloween Weekend to Everyone! I hope you all have a great weekend! For everyone getting dressed up, I want pictures and stories. And I don’t care how skimpy your costume is or how drunken your stories are, regale me with them, please! Maybe I’ll see some good pictures pop up on blogs and Facebook. Can’t wait!
For the parents who are taking little ones out like I am, I hope you have a magical time with your kids!
And for those of you who are skipping all the festivities or staying home to pass out candy, I hope you enjoy that too!
Remember the other day when I mentioned I was recognized by a reader in the supermarket parking lot? Well, I had to go to the store to grab a bag of Halloween candy for any trick-or-treaters we may get. Drunken bar go’ers in my neighborhood don’t count. haha!
From yesterday’s post, glad you liked the looks of my Savory Pumpkin, Potato, & Carrot Soup. And for those of you who told me you’re getting sick of pumpkin recipes, I hear ya!
And it seems that most of us have noticed that Christmas stuff does start earlier every year. Most of you don’t necessarily think this is a good thing, either. Thanks for the great comments.
Dessert: In Honor of Homemade Candy, here are a Few To Try. None of them take more than 10 minutes to make, all are vegan and high raw or no-bake. Easy. No exotic or hard to find ingredients used.

Questions
1. When you were a kid and went trick or treating, what candy made you really excited?
I knew there were some “dud” houses in our neighborhood. They gave pixie sticks, Sweet Tarts, or those candies that are wrapped in black and orange wax paper that just get stuck in your teeth. As I got older, I used to avoid those houses.
And then there were some houses that gave good candy. Which I defined as Reese’s Cups, 100 Grand Bars, Heath Bars, Kit-Kats, Twix, Blow-Pops, Tootsie Pops, Starburst, Skittles, or Twizzlers to name a few. And Heather’s take on a Mounds Bar is also right up my alley!
What were/are your favorites?
2. Did you try to trade candy with anyone? Swap out your lame candy for “good” candy”? Whatever you defined those as?
I would promptly go home and unload any Baby Ruth’s on my dad.
And I would try to trade out my Milky Way, plain Hershey bars, or 3 Muskateers bars with my younger sister. Not that they were “bad” but just not as good as a Twix bar, for instance.
The candy mix I bought yesterday at the store would have qualified as “good” candy if I were a kid. I hope it’s good enough for any kids in my neighborhood to not egg my house!
3. I am also thinking of doing the Candy Honor System. Candy in a basket on my doorstep since neither Scott nor I will be home to pass candy out. We’ll be out with Skylar! When you were a kid, would you have taken 1 piece, a couple pieces, or tons more?
I would have probably taken two pieces unless of course there were Twix, Heath Bars, and 100 Grand bars, then I would have taken 3. haha!
4. Did you name your dolls or pets or anything as a child?
Over the weekend I was working out in the garage and Skylar came down to show me her Halloween scarecrow. She named her Becky. Have no idea how she decided on Becky as we don’t know any Becky’s, but hey, whatever works.
Have a wonderful, fun, and safe Halloween Weekend everyone! Don’t drink and drive, buckle up, and use common sense. I know a lot of you young college girls are going to be out sporting skimpy costumes and there will be alcohol and parties involved. Be safe, be smart, make sure your friends know who you’re with and where you’re at!
And for those of you having a G-rated Halloween with your kids, enjoy the magical day with them!
