It’s been rainy, windy, stormy and nasty here in San Diego today. Totally craptastic weather.
And someone needs a little outing and a fun surprise.
So, we’re off to go Halloween Costume Shopping
When I asked my Little Princess what she wants to be, she replied, “A pink Princess, Mom. I already told you.”
Yes, she did. As in, every previous year of her life.
This will be the fourth year in a row she has requested to be a pink princess.
Year 1 (don’t have the photos on my computer)
Year 4 (pink princess pictures coming on October 31)
She also requested a magic wand, pink high heels, and a pink pumpkin. We’ll see how much progress we make on her checklist.
Questions:
1. Are you dressing up for Halloween, and if so, what are you going to be?
I am not dressing up or going anywhere on my own or out with Scott to any parties. We have a Princess to take care of and it’s wayyyy more important to me that she dresses up and we make the holiday fun and special for her than it would be for us to get dressed up and go to any kind of adult-themed Halloween parties. And who said kids don’t change you?
But we have some very drunken memories fond and fun memories of Halloweens gone by. My favorite was the year I was a Red Devil and Scott was a Pirate. We entered a couples Halloween contest at a local bar and won ‘best dressed couple’. I think everyone had beer googles on though. I think Halloween is an excuse for adults to get rip-roaring drunk. And for the ladies to prance around in next to nothing. I’d preferred to be covered up, warm, and at home this year.
2. Where will you be wearing your fabulous costume?
Or will you be staying home passing out candy? Would you ever pretend to not be home and sit in the house and not pass out candy?
I used to hate those houses in my neighborhood as a kid where I just knew the people were home but had the lights turned off or they even had their lights on but still wouldn’t come to the door and pass out candy. Those were the houses that got TP’ed or egged. Not by me but by other neighborhood kids.
And with that, we’re off to look for Princess paraphernalia…
How fun!! Halloween has always been my favorite holiday and I love dressing up. Hopefully I’ll be able to do so this year! I was never a pink princess kind of girl, I was definitely more into the scary costumes. I was Glinda the Good Witch one year, though, my grandmother made me an amazing costume!
I haven’t really dressed up for Halloween since I was a kid. The problem living in Oregon is that a costume has to be practical if you are going outside at all. It’s always freezing and there’s pretty much a 99.9% chance of rain. I’m usually wearing leggings, jeans, double socks, two shirts, a sweater and a coat on Halloween! lol
Well, she does make an adorable pink princess!
I actually dislike dressing up in costumes, so I do my best to avoid the Halloween rush :)
I LOVE handing out candy. Is that creepy? I hope not. I just like purchasing all the ‘good stuff’ and seeing everyone’s costumes as they come to the door. Halloween was always exciting for me as a child so I get excited for the kids who still get to dress up and just have fun. Sadly, I rent a house from my university and it is on a busy street – no trick-or-treaters – which means I AM one of those people who are home and never have candy (I purchased a bunch the first year and had to give it away after the 31st as I was eating ALL of it).
Oh I can’t wait to see her all dressed up. I almost never dress up and don’t intend on doing so this year either. Just not my thing.
ohmygosh. your little princess is TOO cute! I used to be a disney princess every year for Halloween. [a long time ago…] Those were the good days :) Now I just love staying home and passing out candy and seeing what everyone is dressed up as.
This SoCal weather is for the birds! That’s okay though – every once and a while it’s a nice break!
She is so precious! They grow up way too fast. I totally agree with you on making it special for the kids. I can’t wait to make a big fuss over the holidays for my son. My son is 13 months and we bought him a monster costume. I always love to pass out candy and always buy some to pass out, but no kids ever come to my house! Not sure what I’m going to do with him this year?! He’s too young to even know about trick or treating, but maybe we will get him dressed up and go trick or treating with some of his 1 year old buddies.
Your little one totally rocks the “Pink Princess” look. :-) The kids are talking about dressing up and heading down to the University to mingle with the college crowd. I’m sure it will be a blast. :-D We’ve missed you over at glutenfreeveganfam – drop by when you can. xoxo
so cute! wish she could be princessess with my niece (also 4), when we were in orlando last month, she got all princessified as cinderella. (Disney makes so much money!! it’s crazy!) my niece’s “make over” was like $200! my brother obvs didn’t care, since it’s the first and the last time. haha but she does have this gorgeous cinderella dress and shoes and tiara that she will wear for halloween. as for me, not dressing up… just gonna take the niece and nephew trick o treating! :)
haha I was the exact same way! I was a princess from the time I was 3 to about 10. I was really tall for my age, so by the time I was 11, parents at the homes I would trickortreat at would say I was too old to receive candy. Bummer.
Kevin and I decorate the house and dress up all scary and scare kids every year. So fun. I think I’ll be a zombie this year!
So I was a princess for at least 80% of my childhood Halloweens. I understand her!:)

your daughter is so cute! When I was little my favorite costume was a “Jasmine” disney princess costume. You can’t go wrong with being a princess.
We normally attend a halloween party and dress up every year, but we may have the party here this year. I have no idea what I would dress up as. I guess I need to think about it.
