Hi Friends! I hope your Monday is off to a great start! It’s my day off today and I have so much to do. I’m starting to get ready for my Food Buzz trip later this week, and I need to lay out some of my clothes and outfits to figure out what I’m bringing. I posted about overpacking and don’t want to be guilty of that!
I also need to organize my new toiletry kit, and get my new laptop and case all set up so that I can blog from San Fran on the laptop. I have to get going on everything plus all the usual things I need to tackle.
But first, here are pictures from our Halloween and trick or treating yesterday. The stuff memories are made from!
Being a Princess, being 3.5 years old, being more excited about your candy pail than the candy itself just because it has princesses on it; this is what life is all about.
We hit the streets of our neighborhood…
And only found one house in the ‘hood that was passing out candy
Since things were not looking promising in our ‘hood, we hopped in the car and drove to the mall like I mentioned we may do since some of the stores at the mall were passing out candy. We got there at 5pm sharp and by 5:45pm most of the stores that participated were out of candy. Good thing we got there early!
We hit pay dirt. I will take See’s any day over Godiva, no question!
The lady threw a half dozen chocolate hearts in Skylar’s Princess Pail
She had the program, down. She was running ahead of us trying to get to the next store. It wasn’t about the candy. It was about the thrill of the hunt.
Her loot
We had an awesome Halloween. She thanked me for making her Halloween so special. Melted me! It was perfect and she was so happy and proud to be a Princess! Third year in a row, her choice of course.
But look how much she grew in one year! This was Halloween 2009

And This Post, too, has more Halloween 2009 pictures
From yesterday’s post about passing out Halloween candy, it seems that most of don’t get many trick or treaters so you don’t have to pretend to not be home…haha!
And glad you enjoyed all those pumpkin recipes. After all, it was a big day for Pumpkins. October 31st is a great day to be a pumpkin. All the attention is on you!
Dessert: Peanut Butter Cup Chocolate Chip Cookies
If you have Halloween candy, either from your kids that they’re not going to eat, or you bought candy for an army load of Trick or Treaters but you never got that mad rush you were expecting and now all of a sudden have lots of mini candy bars on your hands to use up, make these!
Questions
1. Best Thing You Ate or Did over the weekend?
Seeing Skylar in her costume, taking her to the mall and watching her race from store to store, seeing where the next piece of candy was coming from! Seeing the joy on her face and the twinkle in her eye when she said trick or treat and people threw a piece of candy into her Princess bucket, well, that’s what parenthood is all about. Moments like that!
2. Do you have pictures from your weekend? If not, tell me at least one good/funny story from your weekend!
3. Did you see any, ahem, interesting costumes? Any adult-themed and/or skimpy ones?
I saw plenty. It’s all good.
4. Did your parents impose any candy-eating limits on you? If so, would you have eaten any more/less had they not?
I have no idea what my parents did when I was 3, but when I was older, early elementary school for instance, there were no limits. I was free to gorge on Snickers bars if I wanted to. But I actually remember still having Halloween candy at Christmas, so clearly I wasn’t a fast eater and didn’t go hog wild…haha!
For me, Halloween was more about tracking down the candy than eating it. Hunting it down from house to house. Having a neighborhood candy-obtaining strategy and going out multiple times and coming home to drop off loot bag #1 and go back out to collect more. For me, once the hunt was over, the candy itself, just okay.
Have a super Monday and I hope no one’s nursing a hangover or a sugar high..hah!
