Happy New Year! I rang in the new year with one Jello shot.
I think Jello shots taste better if you’re underage or at a fraternity party.
Both of which were more than a couple years ago for me.
I would have liked to have been drinking Veuve but I had two hot dates and couldn’t risk my vision being impaired or just falling asleep.
My first hot date was with my pal, Lightroom.
I was knee deep in chocolate photos that I wanted to edit.
After staring at a computer screen for so many hours a day as it is and my eyes glazing over without any help, the last thing I needed to attempt was tipsy editing.
It’s a dark chocolate recipe rather than white chocolate but you can imagine looking at all those chips on the screen after a few drinks. Blurry much?
And after my date with LR 3, I had a date with the ladies of Beverly Hills on my DVR.
I hate coming home from vacations and having a pile of laundry and a pile of bills to sort, but one windfall is that I have a pile of fun shows to watch that are waiting for me. My DVR is chock full of Top Chef Texas, the Kardashians, Kendra, the Real Housewives, Iron Chef, and more mindless programming.
Since I’m well-stocked with trashy and reality TV on my DVR, I didn’t want to fall asleep on my DVR date which is likely what would have happened had I popped the bubbly. So I refrained.
And just to get the new year started off with a healthy weekend breakfast, I may make Baked Chocolate Peanut Butter Donuts with Vanilla Peanut Butter Glaze
Because they’re baked donuts and not friend and have peanut butter in them, they’re healthy, right. But of course.
Nothing like getting 2012 started off right.
Resolutions? Nah, not so much.
How was your New Years Eve? What did you do?
Did you stay in or go out? Did you stay awake until midnight?
I made it until midnight because I live in urban San Diego near a large hospital and the siren, ambulance, and police noise leading up to midnight, and well after, was rampant and frequent.
Not everyone had a safe and mellow holiday if the amount of sirens, police, and ambulances up and down the streets all night long (and for a few days leading up to New Years Eve) were any indication.

I stayed in. We had friends over for dinner and then we visited on the couch after dinner until just after midnight when our friends left and we crashed!

Haha, jello shots! I haven’t had one SINCE I was at a frat party in college! Too funny. And I barely made it to midnight, but I did! We were at my (pregnant) sister-in-law’s playing games and laughing at tired babies. :-) A really wild way to ring in the new year…
Yes us wild mom-types with our one drink, or no drinks, and barely midnight…ahh, far cry from those frat party days but life moves on :)

Happy New Year! I made it up until 2 last night – very unheard of! We went downtown to Weber Grill and watched fireworks at Navy Pier with a zillion other people.
That is pretty un-Chelsey but you’re so young! You need to have some post 2am nights. Navy Pier…I remember some crowded NYE’s there myself a decade ago!
Happy New Year Averie. I actually made it past midnight this year. Went to a party and got to ring in the year with my sister. Very special. What’s even more special? No hangover ;-)

I had a hot date babysitting a two year old until 11, then I came home and my roommate and my best friend and I watched the ball drop and drank…I kid you not…kombucha.

I used Rob as an excuse to decline an invite to a party. It started at 8:00, and we were in bed by 8:30! I heard somebody shooting fireworks at 9:00, but I was totally unconscious by midnight.

Sounds like your New Years Eve was very similar to mine :) Its definitely a goal of mine to get better and photography, and every time I visit your blog I’m always inspired to go learn more about my camera! I don’t think I’ve ever seen such beautiful pictures of chocolate chips ;)

I have never had a Jello shot … they do not look that appealing to me … :) I did toast with white sangria!
Made it to 2:30 AM … :) … I made dinner at home and my youngest had appetizers with us and then went to her little get together … it was great because we drove her and picked her up … no teenage driving for her yet … but coming soon enough!
My oldest stayed with us, ALMOST through the whole dinner and then left with her friend for a party … no curfew … kidding … (she slept over at her friends house) … did not want her to drive with all the party people.
Mr. … semplicemente … j and I had a couple over … I made dinner … great conversation and great food … Happy 2012!
