After years of wanting one, it finally happened.

The kitchen appliance Gods came through for me with a KitchenAid Professional 600 Series Bowl-Lift Stand Mixer in Nickle Pearl.

I also had a coupon that helped offset some of the cost, helping to make my new BFF a reality.

The only thing I’ve made so far in it is frosting.

But since I am no stranger to baking, rest assured there will be…

What’s your favorite kitchen appliance or most used appliance?

I have a Favorite Kitchen Appliances & Items post where I discuss hits, misses, and over-rated appliances, in my opinion.

Also, my favorite Baking Supplies

My Vita tops the hit list and so does a good knife and a cutting board.  I have my knife and cutting board out umpteen times a day slicing something.  A good knife is just as important as anything else.

Do you have any kitchen appliances on your wish list?

I have wanted this for years and suffice to say I bake.  A lot.  I know I will use it.

Up until now, every single recipe on my site for the past three years, I have made by hand.  I really can’t believe it, but it’s true.

With rare exception, I don’t even bother taking out my little cheapie hand mixer.  Anything more than egg whites and it can’t handle the dough and smells like burning plastic.  My biceps, triceps, and elbow grease have been my appliance of choice.  Until now.

I want a Beater Blade, too, for it as many people just rave about them.

There are amazing deals to be had on stand mixers on the KitchenAid site in their Outlet Store section; from Bed Bath & Beyond with a 20% off coupon, on Ebay, Craigslist, Amazon.com, and online.

Various department stores like Kohl’s or Macy’s will run specials and sales on stand mixers (and other higher ticket appliances) and will also offer coupons or money back if you spend a certain dollar amount, making the 5 quart KitchenAid mixers in the low $1oo range.

Persistence and online deal-trolling is key.

Happy Baking!

  1. YAY! Congrats on your new addition :) It really is a life changer! Love the color you picked. I went with the candy apple red and I love it every day!

  2. Congrats Averie! That is a beautiful mixer! I own a white KA which was a pre-wedding gift from my gramma (though I don’t want to use it until I get married, it feels wrong, lol).

My current favorite kitchen appliances are my magic bullet and my pink handled Kitchen Aid santuko knife.

#1 on my wish list is a Vitamix (though I don’t know that I will ever be able to afford one), #2 is a juicer (which I should be receiving a hand me down pretty soon!) and #3 is a dehydrator.

  3. Oh it is SO beautiful! I love the color. I don’t have a stand mixer and I want one SO bad. We don’t really have room in our kitchen but I’d make room! ;)

  4. I LOVE my KitchenAid mixer. Hubby got me a red one for Christmas – just because I wanted a red one. And he never knows what gifts to get me, so when daughter told him I was lusting after a red KitchenAid, he got it. In spite of my perfectly working, 15 year old KitchenAid. Which will now have to be re-homed. I think daughter had something in mind.

  5. wooohoooo!! congratulations and welcome to the club :) LOVE my kitchenaid — it’s the single best thing in my kitchen and you will get so much use out of it! it works like a charm and i honestly don’t know how i lived without it before. I really want the spatula paddle too and the pasta attachment, but the first thing i need to get is an immersion blender! i’ve been eyeing one on amazon and i just need to pull the trigger and get it! enjoy your new toy :)

  6. Averie!

With the amount of baking that you do, I’m really glad that you finally picked one of these babies up! I know that you’ll get a ton of use out of it.

I got the spatula paddle and …. the ice cream maker attachment for mine for Christmas. I still have to test ’em out but am psyched.

    Happy baking!

  7. How exciting! Congrats on your newest addition! And with all the fancy attachments, the possibilities are endless.
I’d love to try baking with a Silpat; I never have before. I know you and other bloggers swear by them . . .

  8. Awesome! One day I’m going to have one of these too. However, I have no idea where I’d put it as my kitchen work surfaces are already full! :)

    Congrats, lovely! xxx

  9. It will change your life!!!! I am seriously in love with mine. Congratulations!!!! I would say that my favorite kitchen appliance is my Food Processor. Can you say banana soft serve?!

  10. AHHHHH YAY! I love that color. It is just SO pretty! Congrats Averie! PS. long time no talk? Hope you have been doing well!

  11. Jealous!!!! Those kitchenaids are amaaaaazing. We have one but it’s sitting in storage in new york. a bit far atm lol. I’ve got a vitamix on my wishlist. I even told my partner he could get me one instead of an engagement ring when the time came. He looked at me like I had two heads….

  12. Best thing ever purchased. Mine is pistachio green and I bought it online on sale. I never could make meringues before I got it!

You inspired me to want both a DONUT PAN and eventually, a Silpat.

  13. I’ve been looking out for this post for a while, I knew you really wanted one–congrats! I was so curious to see what you’d make with it, and now I guess I will.

You haven’t been making so many raw desserts lately, right? (I know super complicated and super expensive ingredients and all the nuts kinda offputting at times)–but those cakes in Sweet Gratitude call for a mixer, and some of them are really good at the Cafe itself, anyway!
    love
