Best Baked BLT Dip

I put a spin on traditional BLT flavors and created this dip that’s perfect for tailgating, holiday parties or events, or anytime you’re in need of some cheesy, bacon-laden comfort food. It’s an easy, no-mixer, no-fuss recipe.

There’s mayo, sour cream, cream cheese, and shredded cheese. The dip isn’t low-cal or low-fat, but it certainly tastes wonderful. Cheesy, creamy, and perfectly savory.

There are green and dried onions for flavor, while tomatoes add juiciness and a nice pop of freshness. Serve with chips, crackers, or just dig in with a spoon. It’ll be your new favorite way to eat a BLT!

How to Make BLT Dip

Making this easy oven baked BLT dip is very simple:

  1. Stir together the sour cream, mayonnaise, and cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Stir in most of the shredded cheese, and follow with remaining ingredients.
  3. Spread the dip into a greased pie plate and garnish with reserved cheese.
  4. Bake the BLT dip for about 30 minutes, or until the cheese on top has melted and it’s heated all the way through. If you like your cheese to be golden brown, bake it for an additional 10 minutes.

Recipe Tips

Before stirring in the cream cheese, make sure it’s been softened to room temperature. If the cream cheese is too stiff, you won’t be able to stir it into the mayo and sour cream properly and your dip will have little chunks of cream cheese running through it.

Also, make sure you’re using brick-style cream cheese and not the whipped kind in the plastic containers. Trust me, it makes a difference!

Lastly, I like to reserve a little of each of the filling ingredients to sprinkle on top as garnish after the BLT dip is out of the oven. You don’t have to do this, but adding those few garnishes makes it easier for guests to identify this dip, plus it adds a nice pop of color!

Recipe FAQs

What’s the best Kind of bacon for BLT Dip?

To save time, I used pre-cooked bacon slices and microwaved them for about 15 seconds before slicing them and stirring into a bowl creamy bowl of goodness.

Can I Use Turkey Bacon in This?

Yes, feel free to use any bacon you’d like in this dip recipe. To make your life easier, I recommend buying pre-cooked bacon and heating it for a few seconds before slicing it, but you can also buy raw bacon and cook it yourself.

Can I Use Another Type of Shredded Cheese?

Yes, although I personally like the flavor of sharp cheddar cheese paired with the juicy tomatoes and creamy filling. But feel free to play around with shredded cheese combinations if there’s another type of cheese you prefer.

Can I Use low-fat sour cream and cream cheese?

Yes! For my dip, I used lite sour cream and cream cheese. This dip still came out incredibly rich and creamy, so if you were wondering whether or not you should use the full-fat versions just know that you have options!

Can BLT Dip Be Made in Advance?

You can’t assemble the BLT dip too far in advance before baking it because the tomatoes will release moisture and make the dip watery. However, you should be fine to assemble the dip in the morning, cover it with plastic wrap, and place it in the fridge until you’re ready to bake later in the day.

What to Serve with BLT Dip

Serve your hot BLT dip immediately with chips, crackers, or toasted bread. It’s best warm and fresh, but it’s still great after it’s cooled down!

  • Lightly toasted French bread or a sliced baguette
  • Crackers
  • Pita chips
  • Tortilla chips
  • Carrots and celery sticks

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 8 ounces brick-style cream cheese, very well softened to room temp (I used lite)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese or cheddar blend, divided
  • 1 cup cooked bacon, chopped; reserve 2 tablespoons for garnishing
  • ยฝ cup green onions, sliced into thin rounds; reserve 2 tablespoons for garnishing
  • 2 Roma tomatoes, diced small; reserve 2 tablespoons for garnishing
  • 2 tablespoons dried minced onions
  • chips or crackers, for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350F. Spray a 9-inch glass pie dish or ceramic baking dish with cooking spray; set aside.
  • To a large bowl, add the sour cream, mayo, cream cheese, and stir well to blend.
  • Add 1 1/2 cups cheese (reserve 1/2 cup) and stir to incorporate.
  • Add the bacon (save time by using pre-cooked bacon slices and zap for about 15 seconds in the microwave before slicing), green onions, tomatoes, and stir to incorporate. Reserve 2 tablespoons of each for garnishing after baking.
  • Add the dried onions and stir to incorporate.
  • Turn mixture out into prepared pan, smoothing the top lightly with a spatula as necessary.
