When weather is warm I crave fruit more so than other times of the year.

Peach Banana Colada Smoothie

And it’s plenty warm here in Aruba.

So fruit smoothies have been in full swing.

They’re also easy, fast, plant-based, naturally vegan and gluten free.

And kiddie-approved, too.

SkylarShe begs me for smoothies.  There are far worse things she could beg me for.

This is an easy request:

Peach Banana Colada Smoothie (non-alcoholic)

2 small/medium bananas (previously frozen is ideal but not essential)

1 c peaches (I used canned peaches in light syrup, but fresh would be great)

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1 c ice cubes (use your judgment)

1/4 c white sugar (or sweetener to taste such as honey, agave, sugar, stevia, vanilla NuNaturals stevia drops.  Some may find sweetener optional but I don’t)

The remainder is optional:

1/4 c milk (nut milk, vanilla flavored nut milk, milk, cream, or peach mango milk)

1/3 c additional fruit (such strawberries, mango, pineapple, plums, nectarines, papaya, honeydew, cantaloupe, etc.)

1/4 c yogurt

1 tbsp chia seeds

1 scoop neutral or vanilla flavored protein powder

top with a handful of granola, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, raisins

For the adults: 1 to 2 ounces rum (dark rum, light rum, Malibu)

Blend everything in Vita-Mix, Magic Bullet, or blender until smooth.

Yields: one hearty portion or two more moderate portions.  Or, double the recipe, pour into plastic glasses and freeze, and pull out of the freezer as needed over the next few days to save time.

Add everything to the Magic Bullet.  I left the Vita at home. Blend and enjoy!

These have been great in the mornings…

…and also in the afternoons after the beach when we’re hot, tired, need something but don’t want to eat anything too heavy before dinner.

It was awesome reading over the comments on my last post, Local Aruba Sights, about your traveling adventures and whether you like to see the local sights when you travel and just how many “touristy” things you do.  Or avoid.

And please keep the comments coming on both the Business Cards Giveaway

And my post on Career Fantasy & Doing What You WantI love these!

Questions:

1. Do you like pina coladas?  Or peach coladas?

Yes, both.

But I like peach pina coladas better.

peach pina coladas

Something about the peach and the pineapple really hits the spot for me.  Vintage pictures, 2009

2. How’s your week going?  Anything exciting going on?

Being on vacation has been fabulous for me.  It’s given me some time to recharge my batteries and do some major thinking, soul searching, and pondering.

And it also has given me time to take care of some blog housekeeping details.  Like, I updated my Beverages/Smoothie Recipes Tab so you an find some recent hits more easily.  Thrilling, I know.

What’s been going on with you?

  1. Yum–makes my mouth water just to look at it. I adore smoothies…

We have the explosion of green going on here, and trying to find some focus–so much to do and so much to pay attention to!

  2. oh man I bet the fruit in Aruba are way better than here! ;) so true, there are way worse things she can ask for.

  3. This looks sooo refreshing! I love smoothies but RARELY have them. Mainly because I HATE cleaning my Vita-Mix, LOL. I need to make it worth it… make two servings and force Dustin to drink up! ;)

Now that the weather is nice I think I’ll try to have them more often. I always enjoy them when I take the time to make them–providing I don’t over-blend them and whip them into mousse. :?

I have Magic Bullet, too. But the cups… that’s a good question. They seem to have run away from home, lol.

I think I just might make a vegan smoothie for a bedtime snack. Vegan… can’t handle much dairy before bed. I’ve been hearing wonderful things about goat and sheep’s milk for people that can’t have moo juice! They say it’s MUCH easier to digest. I love goat cheese, so I’m going to pick up some goat milk to test out next month. :)

I’m feeling sleepy babbly… can you tell? hehe <3

  4. Mmm, I used to make pina colada smoothies, they were so yummy! I have to do that again :D + peach sounds amazing too :D
We’re potty training here :( So at least 50% of my day has been spent in the bathroom so far(and trust me, it’s probably the smallest bathroom you’ve ever seen). At least. And everything is taking me forever to do. I’m already wondering how dinner is going to get done. I’m so looking forward to nap time, haha.

  5. I like ALL colodas – haha!!! It sounds SUPERB, and perfect for sitting on my deck and fantasizing that I am in Aruba :-)

  6. I love pina colada’s so I’m going to go ahead and say that I (will) love peach coladas. I’ll have to try it out with your recipe soon! Especially since it’s definitely smoothie weather where I live.

  7. Ohh this recipe is perfectly suited for your vacation post! Love it!
I prefer my coladas pina, although this could be because I havent had a peach colada… Must change this soon.

Your baby girl is so precious!

  8. It’s finally warm enough out to be smoothie season! And this looks wonderful! Yum!

  9. I am a huge peach lover. Fresh, canned, blended, smoothie-fied. I’ll eat them any way. Will have to try some peach coladas. They look & sound great.

Monday I blended up some cranberries (thawed), bananas and ginger with some water to make a wonderfully refreshing smoothie stash to take to the paintball field. So good!

  10. I have tried cantaloupe in smoothies and I just can’t get into them. There’s something funny about it. Peaches too.

I guess I’m not much of a tropical girl. Pina coladas…meh. But I’ll drink pretty much anything else!

    1. the cantaloupe didnt make it into the smoothies, but it made for a nice photo :)

  11. Oh my kids beg for smoothies too! Well the 1 year old just grunts and yells when he sees his brother enjoying one! lol I just started sweetening mine with Stevia in the Raw. It’s been yummy! Hey, thanks for stopping by my blog and for your very very generous compliments. You are an encourager! Thank you!!

    1. well you deserve every thing i said in that comment :)

babble didnt pick me as a top blogger…but they picked you and 99 others! and your pics on FG are awesome, so you have the right formula right off the bat!

  12. I made this smoothie today for my morning snack since we FINALLY have sun andwarm weather in NH. Delish!

  13. Oh I totally agree, a child that’s begging for smoothies is PERFECT! I love homemade pina colada’s but the stuff they serve at resorts is so full of sugar and garbage, I just can’t handle it.

  14. I’m not a huge smoothie person, but I do like a good mango-banana smoothie every once in awhile. I’m so happy because the sun finally came out after a week+of rain and cold, and I think it’s supposed to stay sunny for awhile! I can believe how much the weather affects my moods.
