Random Island Food, Favorite Condiments, Creative Gym Equipment

Hi Friends!  How are you doing?  It’s still raining here.  I really wish it wasn’t.  So far, we haven’t been able to get to the beach.  But we have been productive running errands and keeping busy.

We have done a few walks and runs but have ended up in torrential downpours and soaked beyond works.  Drowned rat would be more like it.  So until the rain clears and there are no black clouds overhead, I will be sticking with 20 Minute At Home Workouts doing a combo of yoga moves + core moves on my yoga mat

I love that Aruba is a Dutch island because there are so many interesting food finds.  Like unique condiments: whiskey + cocktail sauce + salsa.

It’s like cocktail sauce, with a kick!  I’ve been enjoying it on raw veggies and salads.

In the US, it seems that all condiments are like $3 or $4 for even a skimpy jar of something.  And more like $7-8 at places like WF’s.  This jar was only about $1.50.  It’s the little things, I tell you.

I want to make these but there is no way I wan to turn on an oven here.  Madeline made them last week and told me she gobbled them up.

From yesterday’s post about what you like to sink your teeth into, it was nice to know I am not the only kid at heart who experiences satisfaction with making chomp marks in things.  Especially in chocolate.

Seems like many of you have experienced rain-outs on trips and special events.  Not fun, but the reality of life sometimes.

Questions
1. Do you like condiments?  Love them?  Can’t live without them?
I’m the can’t live without variety.

2. Favorite Condiment?
I am a sauces, dressings, and condiments girl. I love them and have posted about this many times before that I like a pool of sauce with my food.  Same with frosting!

I love this mustard which is also labeled under many different brand names depending on your state and country.  A few reader’s told me in Canada it goes by the name President’s Choice Sweet Heat, or something close to that.

And ketchup, relish, homemade dressings, dips, they are all good in my book.

Check out my Recipes Tab for fast and easy homemade dressing and dip recipes that don’t use complicated or expensive ingredients.

3. Do you have any items around the house that you multi-purpose as gym or workout equipment?  Or any chores that you use as a workout?

I wasn’t going to haul dumbbells in my luggage and knew there’d be something heavy-ish to lift once I got here.  And voila, water jug weights were waiting for me.

I also put my feet up on the edge of the couch and did push-ups that way.  Just adds a little extra toughness to the workout.

And sweeping all the sand and grit off the floors with my broom is probably good for my lats and back.

Do you have anything laying around you use?  Can’t wait to hear your suggestions about how to get creative with your workouts with what you have laying around the house.

4. Best thing you ate or did over the weekend?
Despite the rain, being on vacation with my family.  Far, far away from work, and the stresses of daily life, and structured routines, has been awesome!
