It’s springtime, strawberry season is upon us, and the weather is sunny and gorgeous in San Diego.
I had a great run this morning outside and came in and took a look at the frozen strawberries in the freezer and knew I had to use them.
I wanted something blended and sweet and creamy to quench my thirst.
This did the trick.
Strawberry seeds in my teeth and all.
It’s not a revolutionary “recipe”, but it sure is good.
It only takes a minute to make, and even less to drink. A blessing and a curse.
The only thing that would have made this better would have been adding a shot of rum or Malibu.
But it was 10am so I refrained.
I made a double batch, poured it into a bowl, put it in the freezer and later on tonight when I am watching Million Dollar Listing or a DVR’ed episode of The Real Housewives or Bethenny (yes, I love Bravo), I can shovel it into my mouth with a spoon as a strawberries ‘n cream “ice cream”
Hopefully I eat it slower with a spoon than I drank it with my straw because this was gone in a flash.

Strawberries and Cream Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 to 1 ยฝ cups frozen strawberries, big handful, fresh may be used although ice may be necessary
- ยผ cup milk or cream, use your favorite milk or vegan milk, i.e. coconut milk cream, soy cream, etc.
- sweetenter, to taste (sugar, stevia, agave, etc.)
Instructions
- Put all ingredients in aย blenderย and blend until smooth and creamy. Depending on how many strawberries you used, their size, your blender, and your desired smoothie thickness and consistency, you may need more than 1/4 cup cream (I used about 1/2 cup), or add a splash of water, to reach desired consistency.
- Serve immediately. Leftover portion may be stored in the freezer for later consumption for up to 2 months. The smoothie does not change consistency and taste is not effected upon thawing.

I know this is an old one but I just made it and it’s amazing! I used mainly vanilla almond milk as my liquid but I’m not vegan so I added a few splashes of my fat free half and half I keep on hand for my coffee. Delicious! Strawberries are one of the top four fruits that show highest level of chemical contamination (peaches, too) Please use organically grown fruit when possible. It is disconcerting, now that my daughter is grown, to know that while I thought I was giving her the best nutrition possible I was actually poisoning her.

I substituted the sugar with a few pieces of fresh pineapple. It turned out absolutely delicious!

I love smoothies.. always!! Last year I started using kefir.. it’s so yummy too and makes a great probiotic and high protein drink!
