I’m excited for the weekend. It’s an 82F, sunny, and perfect day in San Diego. Just the kind of weather to start off the weekend properly.
We have such harsh winters here, haven’t you heard?
The best parts of my week include:
1. Updating my blog from this screenshot yesterday to what it looks like now.
The major changes include header changed, font type and size changed, search and subscribe via email boxes tweaked, color scheme changed from black/teal to gray/coral.
In time, I will change the url over from loveggiesandyoga.com to averiecooks.com but for now, it remains LV&Y. One thing, and one set of sweaty palms, at a time.
I’m really loving the new look and I could have never done it without the help of Cory of Zesty Blog Consulting. He is professional, fast, responsive, reasonably priced, and will work with you until you’re happy; even on the pickiest of little details.
He has always been incredibly patient with me, on this project and on others, and won’t “sign off” on the project until I’m happy and satisfied, which is worth it’s weight in gold. Having someone care about my blog as much as I care about it is priceless. I would recommend Cory in a heartbeat to anyone.
2. I’m on a major tempeh kick, to the tune of two packages in three days.
I made this
And I’ve been slicing pieces and putting them on top of salads without even “doing” anything to the tempeh. It has so much texture and nuttiness and no pressing or cooking is required. Put on top of a salad, mixed up with salad dressing and other veggies, it’s been great.
3. Daylight Saving’s Time begins this weekend. Wow, that snuck up on me. Don’t forget to Spring Ahead and change your clocks.
I love having it stay lighter later into the evenings, if for no other reason than for dinnertime photography reasons, but I actually adore this time of year and the promise of spring, flowers blooming, and summer that’s on the horizon.
4. I’m also loving these cookies this week. Okay, every week I love cookies, but these are sort of a springtime-ish cookie.
Coconut Oatmeal Toffee Cookies
5. I’m glad you’re all excited about the $50 Visa Gift Card and Peanut Butter Giveaway. Dark Chocolate Dreams is great. And so is $50 bucks.
What’s been the best part of your week?
Any weekend Plans?
Enjoy time with your friends and family and have a great weekend!
LOVE your new blog look!!! Super excited for what’s in the future for you, girlfriend :)
I am not a huge fan of tempeh. I wish I could say, YEAH. Someday, I hope.
Thanks for the kudos and that’s okay on the tempeh…we can still be friends :)
Averie Cooks and Alisa Cooks – two very different blogs, by two very awesome ladies! With very different styles and cooking and yet great freinds. And that is why I love blogging!
As I just told Alisa
“You know, I never even remembered your blog name. I know a few other ladies that start out with their name, then…Cooks. Glad you got the corner on the Alisa market and me on the Averie before someone else took them :)”
Oh how I miss beautiful San Diego. Even after seven years in AZ I still just want to go home. Your blog is a sweet taste of home with wonderful recipes thrown in. I’m new to blog following but yours is my favorite. Keep up the awesomeness.
Thanks for the sweet note, Catherine! I lived in AZ for 9 mos. I never adjusted, at.all. We moved back to San Diego :)

under question 2. at the bottom, links to my old AZ post/moving back. I hope you get back to San Diego one day!
Averie cooks, I love it! Great minds think alike :)
I adore that your blog is morphing and changing along with your style. Your recipes and photography really have become so incredible. Congrats Averie!
You know, I never even remembered your blog name. I know a few other ladies that start out with their name, then…Cooks. Glad you got the corner on the Alisa market and me on the Averie before someone else took them :)
I just picked up that chocolate peanut butter from the veggie fest here in NYC, and may I say it is sooooo delicious!
I know, it’s crazy good!
Such nice weather out there! Tempeh is on my shopping list so I’m thinking of whipping up a stir fry this weekend. I’ll try it out on my family and let you know!!
LMK how the tempeh goes!
New blog and name are terrific. Please forgive, but, I’m old and I’m finding the font a little small. Just my senile two cents!
Averie, I LOVE your new blog look! Really…it looks awesome and I love the color choice for the blog name and the font and everything. It is awesome!!
Your weather down south looks just like the weather here in nor cal…gorgeous and sunny! Sometimes I wonder how I survived over 20 years in Alaska! Love me some HOT, sunshiny weather! Happy Friday, my friend! xo
I don’t know how I survived growing up in MN, either!
i’m loving the new blog look and title! this weekend we’re in san antonio for a business trip/vacation. i’m loving the down time and relaxation! :)
have fun! and thanks!
I’m feeling too tired today after a tough work week but I picked up a new mini doughnut maker today and hope that will pick up my spirits. I’m breaking it in with a batch of your Baked Cinnamon Bun Donuts with Vanilla Cream Cheese Glaze. If they are as good as your pictures, I’m sure the weekend will be better, light or not light.
Love the new look and those daisies are sooooooooooo beautiful!
thanks!
Ok keep me posted on the donuts! I’ve never made the Baked Cinnamon Bun Donuts IN a donut MAKER. Only in an old-school donut pan, baked in the oven. So if you make that batter IN a donut maker, would love to hear how it goes.
Today IS the perfect San Diego day! LOVE this weather :)
I also love your new blog name! It’s perfect :)
thanks and I saw your instragram…glad you enjoyed the weather!
I’m new here – but I love the look of your site! Very pretty. And I totally agree about Daylight Savings. I can’t WAIT for that extra sunlight … nothing is worse than coming out of work and having it be dark and dreary outside. And I like waking up and it’s already beautiful and bright outside :)
Hi and thanks for finding me and commenting :)
“I love having it stay lighter later into the evenings, if for no other reason than for dinnertime photography reasons, but I actually adore this time of year and the promise of spring, flowers blooming, and summer that’s on the horizon.” BAHAHAAH!! I think the same thing lol. Wintertime = barely any dinner pictures.
Kudos to Cory because he did a truly wonderful job. It’s also awesome to find someone that isn’t done till your satisfied. My friend that made my dress for college graduation was the same way–she actually re-did the top part of it completely and bought the new fabric herself! Good hearted people out there :)
I’ve been loving that kind of weather today too! It’s been muggy in Florida but today the glorious sun was shining… sitting by my pool in my bikini as I write this ;)
Also, as soon as I post this tempeh recipe I made recently I am going to let you know! I think you’ll love it :) I love tempeh on it’s own too.. it’s texture and nutty flavor are so intriguing to my taste buds hehehe.
Best part of my week? Garden picking with my dad :) not sure what I have planned for the weekend, but I’m pretty sure it’ll involve my family (including the total of three pups we have now!)… maybe we should be called a pack?
xo, have a wonderful Friday!
Can’t wait to hear about your tempeh action. And have a fab weekend, sweetie!
xo
Loving the new blog look! The temperature here might get into the 60s, I wish we had 82 degrees though!
I agree with you 100% about it staying lighter later in the day! That means I don’t have to wake up before noon to take pictures, YAY! heh Rock star living <3
I am right there with you on not having to start dinner at noon in order to get the pics done by 2pm!
Now those are my kind of temps! It’s kind of cooled back down here, but at least it’s not flat out cold and the predicted rain didn’t happen today so that’s a positive. Happy Friday!
