They’re Back

PinSave

When I was at Trader Joe’s the other day, I picked up one of my favorite things

mango chunks

I can’t believe it’s been a few months since I’ve had these orange gems in my life.  I just kind of forgot to replenish my stash and buy some.  Bad move on my part.  Glad I’ve rectified that problem.

I could take down half the bag at a sitting if I didn’t care about possibly turning myself orange

I love the texture of frozen fruit and I think it actually gets sweeter upon thawing.  Could be my imagination though.

I prefer my grapes frozen

And I like bananas best when frozen

And mango is no exception: frozen please

You can pair bananas + mangoes for

And apples are also back

Raw Vegan GF Apple Crumble is really good

And it’s easy and no-bake and I prefer it to baked crumbles and crisps

But mango anything will always steal the show for me:

Jar of Mango Butter

Four Jars of Mango Ginger Chutney

Make Mango Ginger Maple Tofu with the chutney (or use apricot preserves or peach jam or similar if you don’t have mango chutney)

Stacked Mango Ginger Maple Tofu

And make No Bake White Chocolate & Mango Cookie Dough Bites with dried mango

Told you I love mango and I’m glad it’s back!

“Sooo excited to try the caramel cheesecake!”

Enjoy your sweet treats ladies!

From my last post, Disses & Kisses, thanks for the support about my recipes being swiped and re-posted on other blogs.

What’s happening is somehow the spam content farms are getting a hold of my content and then just farming it out and posting it on their own sites but as Evan pointed out, it’s likely not even a human doing it.  Grrr.  Spam and spammers are the worst!

Good thing there were some Kisses of the Week, too.

Questions:

1. Any foods you’ve forgotten about lately and are glad to have back in your life or need to reincorporate back into your life, asap?

I’ll be honest, I do love Vegenaise but recently I was out, didn’t want to make a special trip to Whole Foods just for it, and picked up a jar of Miracle Whip at the grocery store.  And yes, I loved it growing up, and love it still.

And also, Golden Grahams.  Childhood staple for me that I haven’t had in about a decade!

Pile of Golden GrahamsYes, there is a recipe coming using them

2. Do you like mangoes?

Clearly, I do.  Big time.

Enjoy your weekend!

  1. Mangos are the best fruit ever hands down. Little warning (I know some people have mentioned allergy stuff), but I only recently found out that sometimes the sap from the tree gets on the mango skins and it contains urushiol, which is the same stuff in poison oak, ivy, and sumac. I found this out the hard way. Imagine poison oak, but on your face. HORRIBLE!
This experience has not stopped me from eating them however. Basically you just have to wash the mangos (if eating them fresh) with soap and water, rinse thoroughly, peel and cut with two different knives, enjoy and then wash your face and hands carefully. At least, that is what I have to do when I want them (which is basically all summer, and sometimes beyond).
I really want to try your white chocolate mango thing. Looks delicious!!

    1. thanks for the comment/concern…always a good tip to remind others about, yes.

try those mango/white choc bites. They are soooo good!

  2. Agreed on grapes and bananas being frozen, I loaded up on both at Costco yesterday to freeze. Gotta grab a frozen mango bag at TJ’s next time I’m there!

    1. Popcorn recently and winter squash since I’ve got a garden full of them.
    2. Yes!

  3. I love Tj’s dried mangoes with sunflower butter spread over it for a snack. I actually just bough fresh mangoes from TJ’s. It’s a bit more expensive but I’m going to make on of Mama Pea’s salads with it, so I wanted to try it out. I also love frozen fruit as well, it does feel like it is melting in your mouth :P

  4. mmm to frozen mango! And totally agree with you on frozen grapes. I forgot how awesome smoothies were prior to the start of summer!

  5. Those mangoes are my fave TJ’s buy! I do them in the food processor like I do bananas for soft serve, but JUST the mangoes (no banana) and it’s so fantastic. Sometimes I toss in some frozen blueberries too. That’s a regular breakfast for me lately…soooo yummm.

  6. Thanks for pointing out the Blogger 101 posts! I’m a new blogger and find these extremely helpful. Right now, I’m erring on the side of being OVERLY cautious about copying.

Thanks again – love your blog!
