Valentine’s Frosted Sugar Cookie Bars – Sugar cookieย bars are so much FASTER AND EASIER than making sugar cookies!! The sprinkles and tangy cream cheese frosting help to make the bars a PERFECT Valentine’s Day treat!!
Fast And Easy
Everyone loves sugar cookies but not everyone has time to make them and that’s where these frosted sugar cookie bars come into play. You’ll have these bars ready in no time.
Theyโre soft with slight chewiness and remind me of bakery-style sugar cookies. You know, the thick cookies that are frosted with sprinkles and just melt in your mouth. Same goes for these bars.
The bars are as easy to make as using a package ofย Krusteaz Butter Vanilla Sugar Cookie Mix.
The Krusteaz mixes always give me great results like these Snickerdoodle Bars and no one ever suspects I used a mix.
Sometimes you just gotta do what you’ve gotta do.
Cream Cheese Frosting And Sprinkles
The cream cheese frosting is a lovely complement to these festive Valentine’s Day-themed bars.
You can even cheat and use a tub of store bought cream cheese frosting if youโre pressed for time. No one will have any idea.
I added just two drops of red food coloring to the frosting. I was going for a pale pink shade and two drops was all it took. Since all food color varies, my advice is add it slowly and mix well after every drop or two.
Everything is better with sprinkles (technically nonpareils here) and seeing the Valentines sprinkles will automatically put everyone in a festive mood.
As a baking tip, you can swap out the Valentines sprinkles for pastel ones in just a few months for Easter or with red, white, and blue ones for the Fourth of July. Flexible and versatile recipes are always the ones that get made, time and time again.
Great Valentine’s Day Dessert
The bars are perfect for classroom parties for the kiddos, as a special treat for your family, or make them to impress that special someone in your life this Valentine’s Day.

Valentine's Frosted Sugar Cookie Bars
Ingredients
Bars
- one package Krusteaz Butter Vanilla Sugar Cookie Mix
- 1 large egg
- ยฝ cup unsalted butter, softened
Frosting
- one 14-ounce tub store bought whipped cream cheese frosting
- OR
- 6 ounces cream cheese, softened (lite okay)
- ยผ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ยฝ cups powdered sugar
- ยฝ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ยฝ teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 2 drops red food coloring, or as necessary for desired color
- about 3 to 4 tablespoons Valentine's Day themed sprinkles
Instructions
- Barsย โ Heat oven to 350F, line an 8ร8-inch pan with aluminum foil for easier cleanup, spray with cooking spray; set aside.
- To a large bowl add all the cookie mix, egg, butter, and mix with a handheld electric mixer until combined; dough takes a couple minutes to come together.
- Turn dough out into prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula as necessary.
- Bake for about 24 to 26 minutes, or until center is set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs. Allow bars to cool completely in pan on a wire rack before frosting.
- Frostingย โ To a large bowl, add the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, salt, and beat with a handheld electric mixer until smooth.
- As desired, add the red food coloring. I was going for a pale pink and added 2 drops. Add slowly and mix well after each drop or two.
- Turn frosting out over the bars and evenly sprinkle with sprinkles before serving. Bars will keep airtight at room temp for up to 4 days or in the fridge for up to 1 week. I am comfortable storing frosted items at room temp but if youโre not, store in the fridge.
