Hi Everyone!  How was your weekend?  Did you do anything special to celebrate Mother’s Day?  I had a really nice day.  Scott and Skylar surprised me with flowers and a card.

We had a nice, low-key day as a family and that was all I really wanted.

There was no breakfast in bed, and I still cleaned the house, scrubbed a few toilets, and made 3 squares for everyoneIt’s a day to Celebrate Mothers, not get me out of my Motherly Duties!  All the moms know that it’s just generally easier to just do the work yourself than try to take a day off because that would just mean extra work on Monday…ha!

We took a hot, long power walk as a family and I lifted, and continued to work on making my butt bigger!  Thank you to April who chimed in with This Link for Glute Exercises and to reader Jessica for directing me towards this Amazingly Comprehensive Post about Glutes.  I should have my bubble butt in no time!  Thanks for the suggestions you all left me in the Comments!

Saturday night we had the Party I mentioned.  And here I am in one of the new dresses I bought before we left the house.   You all requested pictures, so here you go: Photo overload.

Some of the other ladies shot me evil glances and the men staredSo in my book, that means I looked good..haha!   Scott told me I looked beautiful so that’s all I cared about anyway.

I had my 4 inch strappy shoes on too, but those didn’t make the frame.  Darn!

Skylar ran around and had a ball, too.

Here she is Literally Raiding the Midnight Buffet!

Little girl reaching for a snack at a table full of food
Yes, it really was midnight and she was bellied up to the bar buffet.

She went for the raw veggies and fruit, minimal cheese, and took a pass on the fried egg rolls and the sweets table with the exception of a brownie that the hostess literally shoved in her mouth.  Grrrr.

We called it an “early” night at midnight and came home and put the tired 3 year old to bed by 1am.  I always hear of people who put their kids to bed at 7pm.  Not sure how that works.  Mine has never gone for that!

She apparently likes to stay out late and dance and party like her mama does!

Over the Weekend I made Vegan Pineapple Cream Cheeze.

The Cream Cheeze is Very Similar to my
Raw Vegan Cheesecake Recipe in that it starts by soaking cashews and adding agave.

Side view of Raw Vegan Cheesecake Recipe
Raw Vegan Cheesecake in container with slice cut out
Raw Vegan Cheesecake: Agave, Cashews, Lemon Juice, a 5 Minute Gluten-Free Crust, and you’re done!  And it’s Soy-Free!  Most vegan cheezecakes start with a slab of tofu, which is not my first preference.

Anyway, back to the the Vegan Pineapple Cream Cheeze…

Averie’s Vegan Pineapple Cream Cheeze
1 c of soaked raw cashews (soaked for at least 3+ Hours.  Drain & Rinse Well.  I use TJ’s brand of cashews)
2 Tbsp Agave or To Taste (can substitute a couple medjool dates but may need to add water/liquid as need for blend-ability)
1/4 c Pineapple (you can also substitute blueberries, strawberries, peaches, any fruit you wish.  Pineapple has a high water content so may need to add a dash of water with other fruits)
Optional:
Vanilla Extract
Pinch of Cinnamon or Nutmeg
1/4 Tsp Salt

Combine all ingredients and Blend!

Container full of diced pineapple
 Soaked cashews in blender

Spread this on everything!

Deodorant in Lavender

Roll-on Deodorant in Lavender

All their deodorants are Aluminum-Free.  It makes sense we would not want apply heavy metals to our skin, our largest organ, and have metal leeching into our skin and bodies.  However, many natural deodorants are not super effective.   I love the way the lavender smells and trust me, it’s plenty hot in Phoenix, 95F or more during the days right now, so I’ll keep you posted on how this performs.

Before I get to Today’s Questions, thanks for telling me in the Highlights Post if you like to Shop or Not, if you Like to Spend Money on Yourself or Do you Feel Guilty, and for letting me know what some of the most expensive items are that you’ve bought.  Fun to read what everyone’s splurges wereEverything from Tuition to Engagement Rings to Designer Jeans to just paying Rent every  month.

Today’s Questions
1. Best Thing You Did or Ate Over the Weekend?
Me = Having a Nice Mother’s Day with Scott and Skylar on Sunday and the Party on Saturday!

2. If you got your mom a gift, what was it and was she surprised?
I piked up my phone and was about to call my mom when the phone began to ring.  Guess who was calling me at that same moment I was to call her?  My mom!

3. Fave Personal Care Products?
I am a lip balm (Carmex in a tube) addict.  I have to have something on my lips all the time!  And its so dry here, I am the lotion queen, too. For years, I have been trying to use more natural/holistic products for both my house/home and my personal care products.   What are your favorite products that you just can’t live without.   I don’t care if they are “natural” or not.  I just want to hear what your faves are!  Have you ever tried natural deodorants?

4. Have you ever had other people (usually women) give you dirty looks or stare you up and down for your attire?  Does that make you Happy (happy because you know it means you’re standing out and probably looking pretty good!) Or Irritated?
Are you guilty of ever having given a few crusty evil glances to someone else?

I have had more evil glances shot my way that you can shake a stick at.  I am tall  5’11” + shoes = 6’3″ or so when I go out and definitely stand out in a crowd.  Long legs, blond hair, yeah, I get a few nasty looks.  I think all women are beautiful and really don’t get the whole jealousy thing.  Trust me honey, I don’t want your man.  One’s plenty!

I think, sadly, women are so uber-competitive and rather than celebrating each other’s beauty and positive attributes, we tend to hate, not appreciate.  Not a good thing and I am trying so hard with Skylar to not speak ill of someone, not be negative, not trash on another person’s image.   But if you’re wearing plaid pants and a striped shirt, and are more along the lines of a Glamour Magazine “Don’t” I will probably laugh though…haha!
Have you ever been the recipient of some evil looks or given any out?  What was the situation or what were you/the other person wearing?

I am off to try to not break the bank and go look for a competition bikini!   Hopefully less than $400 or more++ that can be the norm of competition suits!  Skylar will be my suit critic.  Nothing like spending quality time in a dressing room with a 3 year old trying on swim suits.  Oh, the Joys… haha!
