Hi Friends! How was your weekend? Or, more to the point, hopefully Monday and getting back to the grind has been relatively painless. I’ve had a busy but good day so far, but I just wasted 45 minutes standing in line at the post office to pick up a package that required a signature. My post office is always crowded, no matter the time of day or day of the week. It’s like the week before Christmas every day in that place!
I worked over the weekend which was interesting. As my boss said, “It’s been a shit show in here.” That pretty much sums it up, but whatever. Work’s over for a few days and that’s all I care about. Katie swears on her blog, too. I’m not alone. Why bleep it out anymore? Hope you don’t mind.
In honor of having my “weekend” start on Sunday, we decided to hit up a restaurant in our neighborhood. I love my neighborhood because it’s so diverse and fun!
We walked over and had a few chips and homemade salsa
Scott and Skylar split a cheese quesadilla. He’s a vegan at home, and a whatever he wants when out. See Here for more info on our different dietary paths if you care. Someone always asks so there’s the link.
Scott got busy with a Shirley Temple. I couldn’t make this up.
While I preferred an adult beverage
It was called the Tea Bag Sr. which had Seagram’s Sweet Tea Flavored Vodka (filled half way up) and topped with Pink Lemonade, and Squirt of Lemon. I highly, highly recommend this vodka. I am not being paid to say this. New to me, but I will be buying it in the future.
Elise and Holly both seemed “comfortable” this weekend, too. Yay for Living.Your.Life.
The crazy thing is when we went to the Gay Pride Parade earlier in the summer I caught a tshirt that was thrown off a float
Anyway, you know life is good when you get plastic animals in your drink
It was great getting out for an hour. When going out with a 3 year old, an hour is all she wrote. The jig is up after an hour. We walked home and relaxed.
From my last post about New Fitness Tips and Do they Exist or not, many of you said no, nothing is really all that “new” anymore but that sometimes a gem does come along that keeps your interest or is information you forgot about and can use again.
Naomi hit it on the head when she said: There are no new fitness tips, but different ones catch your attention at different times.
And Madeline as well said: How many times have you read a variation of “eat less and exercise more?” ugh.
Gina made a good point that there are diamonds in the rough, little gems that keep you going: i totally agree about the fitness tips- BUT, there are definitely *new to me* fitness tips that i learn all the time (like how putting a bender ball in between your knees while squatting takes the emphasis from your quads to your booty). that’s why i think it’s good that fitness tips are thrown around, because what might be old hat to be, may be new and useful to someone else.
I enjoyed reading about what Exercise, Diet, and Life Tips you Live By. Your life motto’s type tips. Those were great. Everything from Check out this Post and Comments to see some gems!
Tip of the Day: My Zevia Give Away!
Dessert: Raw Vegan Apple Crumble
Take advantage of cheap fall apples! This one is super easy and will convert even die-hard traditional apple pie fans.
Questions
1. Best Thing You Ate or Did over the weekend?
Me = time with my family. Simple stuff. Fresh salads, long walks, great weather, deep breaths, not feeling rushed. That’s what I love about weekends. And of course, our little outing and my drink rocked.
And I got in some nice Lifting Workouts over the weekend at home. They came from my Workout Tab
Scroll down to the part about If you Can’t Get to the Acutal Gym… That’s what I did.
2. Have you ever tried that Sweet Tea vodka? Or any new beverage finds you’d like to tell me about?
I don’t know what I was waiting for, but I love sweet + tea + vodka. Perfect.
3. Are you able to leave your work “at the office”? Or do you bring it home with you?
I’ve had a variety of different jobs in my life and some are easier to leave behind than others. Currently, I try hard to leave it all behind me because my family matters more than anything so why carry it home, vent and stew about things that didn’t go as planned, worry about coworkers, bosses, and various drama that is done and I can’t change things or people anyway. I know, easier said than done, but the older I get, the more I try to compartmentalize and leave work at the office.
4. Are you a channel flipper?
I was in my car for awhile today and I admit, flipped radio stations a zillion times. No, I don’t have satellite radio and no I don’t bring my ipod or cd’s in my car usually. I just use the radio. Oh, I am so old school. But I also channel flip. Searching for that “perfect” song. The grass is always greener on the next channel, but of course.
And with TV channel flipping, I’m the worst. That’s why I have to DVR things otherwise I just am not content to watch whatever is on and I will channel flip, incessantly. And drive Scott nuts. Because of course I am in charge of the remote control, not him, no way! hah!
The raw vegan apple crumble looks delicious, is there anything that vegans can’t do?
