I hope your weekend has been going well so far. Mine has but I can’t believe Saturday is almost over. Time flies!
Here’s my weekend report thus far:
I baked. I didn’t use these exact ingredients but very similar.
What I made is a spin-off on Pumpkin Peant Butter Oatmeal Bars (Vegan, GF) but without the pumpkin.
Sooner or later I’ll get the new recipe posted.
And I photographed it. One of my favorite things after the recipe has been developed, the food is baked, made, cooled, sliced, staged, composed, and ready to go is to start taking pictures of it.
Then comes editing. A love-hate relationship. Love the way the final images look. Hate the time it takes.
I edit using Lightroom 3 and highly recommend it. If you’re inclined to shoot in RAW like I do and therefore have to post-process your images or you are starting to edit and touch up your images a bit, I love LR3 and suggest it to everyone.
I also went to a camera store and looked at camera bags for our trip.
I didn’t buy anything at the store but did buy something online. If it works, I’ll post about the details but I am not sure the size and orientation of the bag will fit my camera + Macbook combo, but I am hopeful.
Thursday the Apple store was a bust out, the camera store today was a bust, so hopefully the online order will do the trick. These are the situations where although online ordering is great, being able to see something in-person and try it out in-person is worth it’s weight in gold.
A White Chocolate Blondie with Chocolate Peanut Butter Frosting would be worth it’s weight in gold right about now, too.

“I love Wasa crackers! I usually get the whole grain kinda and spread peanut butter and honey on top!”
Congrats, Alyssa!
Questions:
1. What’s been the highlight of your weekend so far?
2. Do you have any travel bags you love? For your computer or camera? Or a dob kit/health & beauty products bag? Purses you love either for traveling or every day?
I bought this dob kit about a year ago and I like it but actually have just been using Ziplock baggies as my travel “kit”. They seem to work about as good as anything for me and I always put things into a Ziplock first anyway for the just-in-case leaks and rather than putting the Ziplock into yet another bag, I have just been putting that into my suitcase.
I need to find a camera + computer combo backpack or bag. I have tried keeping them in separate bags but I stress out in the security lines with having my valuables, tending to Skylar, keeping an eye on my purse, our passports, Skylar’s stuff, our snacks, and having stuff all over the place in so many different bags. I’d like to keep the valuables/electronics at least grouped together.
Any travel bags or other kind of bags you really like?
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
I don’t have any favourite traveling bags, but I typically prefer something roomy with a lot of different pockets/pouches/sections.
Ugh on camera bags! I have too many already, but feeling none are optimal for our upcoming trip. It’s a problem when we need to carry the laptop and camera gear on board, but just the camera when on vacation. :-/
My weekend was a bust with crappy weather and being sick, I got plenty of mandatory down time.
I hope the camera bag works! I’ve tried a couple and and I haven’t liked them.
Highlight of my weekend: the boyfriend FINALLY getting his Christmas present from last year!
It’s amazing to see how your photography arts have blossomed this year. Fun watching passions take fire like that — and the photos are indeed gorgeous every time.
Thanks, Gena. I just posted a cookie recipe and thought of you b/c it’s one little tiny step away from being vegan. And really dark chocolaty. Would make for a good study break item I am thinking :)

I have had blondies on my mind lately, too! Those white chocolate frosted blondies look super yummy!!
thanks, Stacy!
My lazy day yesterday was the highlight. I had not much to do expect to catch up with my TV. Well, to be fair it was because I had eaten something that didn’t agree with me. But sometimes a relaxing day is exactly what the doctor ordered.
Sounds like a productive weekend. I don’t keep a blog anymore for that reason…it’s just so time consuming! This weekend I learned shoulder duck outs with my hula hoop, got some studying in, and made a healthified version of carrot cupcakes with a healthified version of cream cheese frosting and mallowcreme pumpkins on top. They are so…so good. :) Replacing most of the oil with grated zucchini was definitely a success!
Your cupcakes sound awesome…the mallowcreme pumpkins on top…oh how cute. And good.
And yes, blogging takes time. You’re right about that :)
Fingers crossed on the online order then. Hate when I can’t find exactly what I need. I don’t have any fave travel bags really. Just a purse large enough for my laptop and then typical luggage. Nothing fancy. Can’t wait to hear what this new recipe is.
I have a ‘vintage’ dopp kit from my dad – an old men’s leather one that I love (mostly because it belonged to my grandpa). I don’t use it for travel, though, I wouldn’t want it to get ruined (I’m always worried my stuff will leak so it all goes in ziplocks too!!) I do have a small bag that came with my luggage that I use. for all the ziplocks ;)
highlight of the weekend so far – Jason came home! that was his final business trip of the year (well, most likely because we’re out of the country most of December!). tomorrow is lunch with my dad and dinner with friends, so we have more to look forward to!
have a great Sunday!
The highlight of my weekend so far was making this bread:
My family loved it! But when I was perusing yummy recipes, I saw this and thought of you:
https://picky-palate.com/2011/10/20/cinnamon-roll-pumpkin-vanilla-sheet-cake/
The ooey gooey-ness of these look right up your alley! Oh, and, those pumpkin peanut butter bars are on the agenda for tomorrow! :-)
Your bread baking sounds great and I love Jenny and her recipes and yes, I saw that one. Delish looking for sure :)
The highlight of my weekend was getting a lot of crafting done today. I finished TWO knit hats and made an apron for my aunt. And, I even got half my windows covered in plastic, even though I really (really) didn’t want to do it. Where’s that man around the house when you need him? ;)
