Time for an installment of Weekend Things:

1. Tis the season for blueberries. I just can’t get enough.

If you need a few ideas, all of these have become fast favorites. I bake with frozen fruit so you can make them year-round, too. Or swap with the ripe fruit that’s in abundance and taking over your countertop.

2. Three-tiered Stacked Optic-Glass Beverage Server, $77. I don’t have room for this, but it sure is pretty. If you’ve been trying to drink more water or do better with hydrating and keeping your fluids up, walking past this would do the trick.

3. I recently picked up Jerusalem: A Cookbook. After seeing rave review after rave review on blogs and the internet, I had to check this book out. 274 5-star Amazon reviews is always a good sign.

The photography is drop-dead gorgeous, and plentiful. The story-telling is magnificent, and even though I haven’t made a single recipe yet, it was a great buy just from the photos and stories alone.

4. Here’s my recent 12 Favorite Cookbooks post. My cookbook count is always growing and it’s so hard to narrow down my list to just 12. The cookbooks on the list are always out and within reach, rather than being in boxes or in sporadic rotation on my limited bookshelf space.

5. Looking for a new muffin pan? Cook’s Country tested a bunch and here’s the winners and losers.

6. I never use muffin or cupcake liners anymore, an rely on non-stick spray my muffin pan.

The one I’ve been using for about a year and love is this Chicago Metallic Betterbake Non-Stick 12-Cup Regular Muffin Pan for $9.66 on Amazon.

It never sticks, even with blueberries baking onto the sides, or with vegan batter, notorious for sticking to paper liners.

7. I couldn’t resist this shirt dress from Anthro. I was walking by the store, saw it on the mannequin, tried it on, and it was so comfy and felt like a pajama top. Sold.

I hate dresses that are constricting and fussy. Dark colors, loose, flowy, easy, breezy. Way better. And the embroidery is gorgeous in person. It’s really vibrant and just pops.

8. I keep seeing ads for my cookbook on my blog. It’s surreal, and wonderful.

It’s usually after I am revisiting a peanut butter recipe on my site, the ad for the book will pop up in the sidebar. Not complaining, of course.

9. I just got my monthly iHerb order. Their prices are, hands down, the cheapest on my daily probiotics, the nutritional yeast I sprinkle on everything from popcorn to salads to kale chips.

I get all my vitamins and supplements, bulk cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, liquid vanilla stevia drops, bulk white stevia powder, medicinal fancy-grade honey, chia seeds, face cleanser, and so many other things I use every day there.

With free shipping and a discount on top of already rock bottom prices, I always feel like I hit the jackpot.

10. I picked up these Bluetooth earbuds and although I don’t run frequently with music playing in my ears for safety reasons in a busy city, every now and then on a lazy Sunday morning, some tunes make a run so much more enjoyable.

I got them from a kiosk at the mall and paid twice as much, but this is what they are ECSEM® Mini Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds Stereo Headphones Headsets Microphone for Iphone 4S 5, Ipad 2 3 4 New iPad, Ipod, Android, Samsung Galaxy, Smart Phones Bluetooth Devices-IN White, $29.99

Having one little cord behind my head rather than a long cord slapping me in the chest and stomach and getting tangled up is so much nicer.

  1. Happy Monday because I’m totally reading this now! We had a busy weekend with bar mitzvahs and such! Just wait, they are like mini weddings and so much fun. It’s a wonderful way to celebrated the kids when they are still kids and it’s fun to watch them all dance and interact. SO fun! Eli was on stage the whole time dancing and leading everyone. He’s totally got rhythm.
So, how do I get your cookbook ad on my blogher feed? I would love to have your cookbook in one of the ads on my site. So cool! Congrats girl! I just purchased your book for a friend of mine who is a total peanut butter fanatic. She loves it!
I’m loving blueberries and totally eating them now on my steel cut oats. I also topped them with a scoop of natural peanut butter and OMG, it tastes so good. Have you ever tried that? So, I’m eating steel cut oats, topped with blueberries and peanut butter. It really does sound like a strange combo, but it tastes great! BTW, I love your weekend things installment because it’s like my weekly menu post, it’s full of great things and celebrates you! Have a great Monday girl! xoxo, Jackie :)

    1. I think the ads are just random as well as based on browsing history on Amazon, cookies, etc.

Thanks for buying my book for your PB loving friend! That is SO NICE OF YOU!!!! Thanks, Jackie!!!

Oats with PB…yes, so good! I usually go with brown sugar and cinnamon too in the fall/winter but I bet the fruit is fabulous! Have a great week! xoxo

  2. I just cant get enough blueberries either! and now I have the depeche mode song stuck in my head ;) all of these recipes look amazing!

  3. Happy weekend! Even though it’s over. :( Sorry I’m behind this weekend on computer stuff! You know how it is during crunch time. :) Anyway, I love that drink server! It would be gorgeous at bridal showers, baby showers, or lunch parties. And your new dress is adorable! It looks unbelievably comfy. Comfy is pretty much all I wear these days! Congrats on the cookbook ad on your sidebar!! I would faint if I saw it. I bet it made your day. You go girl!!! So proud. xo

    1. Girl I see them all the time, actually. I see them on other sites, my site, I’ve even seen it on FG! Now I don’t know who else is seeing it. Amazon/google/cookies dictate to some extent that I see the stuff I’ve browsed on Amazon (case in point, that drink server keeps coming up for me this week after looking at it once!). But regardless, still surreal with seeing my own ads :)

And no apologies necessary. It’s been nutty here too :)

  4. iHerb is the best site ever. I also make monthly bulk purchases and have recommended it to so many people.

    1. So glad you’re a fan – me too! Love it. I have saved thousands over the years by using them…truly!

  5. *Love* this blueberry time of year – and that Anthro dress!! (Great way to hide blueberry stains.) :D

  6. I’m also totally loving blueberries right now…on yogurt, in pancakes, in scones, and just plain out-of hand.

  7. I am waiting for the hubby to have a weekend morning off with me so I can make that blueberry dutch baby.

I also COMPLETELY agree on the Chicago Metallic muffin pans. I’ve been converting all my bakeware to CM over the past several years.

What do you recommend for cookie sheets?

    1. I have a hodgepodge of cookie sheets but bake on Wilton. But…the MOST IMPORTANT thing when baking cookies is not the sheet, but it’s using a SILPAT!!! A MUST!!! Of course, my opinion only, but the reason I get the results I get with my cookies isn’t really the cookie sheet, it’s chilling the dough and using Silpats. I am a huge believer! I actually think brand of bread pans, muffin pans, and cake pans are more important than cookie sheets b/c you can’t ‘cover them up’ with foil, or with a Silpat; they have to perform – or else :)

  8. I need to get on those vegan blueberry muffins of yours…they sound SO good!

I love the shirt dress!!! It looks beautiful, yet comfy.

  9. I won that Wilton muffin/cupcake tin awhile back and it’s amazinggg! LOVE it!

  10. I need a reason to go make that pancake cake again, because it disappeared all too quickly last time. Then again, it’s just great to be in berry season – I will make time.

    1. So glad to hear you tried it! I love that cake! I have a cake coming Tues of this week that’s similar and also next week yet another one that’s based off it.

  11. Ohhh I LOVE Jerusalem! One of my favorites for sure. The barley risotto is to die for!
